I started watching Korean dramas and then headed towards Chinese. After three viewing years, I hate like crazy the sugary sweet plotlines where everyone just hugs it out in the last episode. I laughed out loud on your comment of "I didn't watch it because I'll probably break my TV". I usually cannot handle dramas that end tragically because the ending interrupts the overall storyline. This show was the exception because it wouldn't have made sense to have them holding hands, skipping away in the sunset. That being said, over two months later and I'm still thinking about the characters and the haunting "what if" . I can't wait to find the next one that is this good.
I was definitely a minority in being disappointed by "What's Wrong With Secretary Kim". I thought the acting was, as usual, fantastic by Park Min Young and Park Seo Joon, but the storyline was lacking. Because I love Park Min Young, I decided to try "Her Private Life" and am very glad that I did. Unlike "Secretary Kim", the writing in this drama is a slow burn and solid. The chemistry between the two leads is insane but, as you stated, the "Cindy" character gets on my nerves. Episode 48 - I watched the english subbed version around 1:30 pm and had to pick my son up from school at 2:30. You have no idea the amount of people who looked in my car and then pointed, mainly because the mascara was running down my face and I was trying to hold my breath so I wouldn't go into a full blown crying meltdown. It took 3 days before I could rewatch the episode.
So, I'm trying other dramas. Some Korean, some Chinese. Some are funny and others dramatic but none immerse me in the story like "Good Bye My Princess". It's like finding a person you love and adore substituted with a cardboard cut out. I had no idea how much this story has raised the bar of my drama expectations.

I would love - love - love to see the look on my neighbors face if they saw me mow grass a couple of days ago. I'd be happily pushing along , listening to music and cutting grass when I would stop dead and say, out loud (unfortunately), "how could he do that!
