Exactly. She cared about the SML and considered him as the one person who would not lie to her or hide things. With the ML there is no such expectation. But I still think the ML is more honest with her even now

The point is she care about the SML . She considered him family and probably as the one person who would not hide things or lie to her especially about something she was trying so hard to seek.
The SML is the self righteous twit and yes he is going to turn in to the manipulative evil doer later in the show and this behavior of his know of shows that. Even is so called ‘protection’ for her was very selfish . It’s obvious that he wants to control her
On the other hand the ML AND FL have their own agendas and have become allies for that purpose. Ther are no expectations of honesty, gentle behavior nothing there. But still the ML is the more honest person here and he definitely does not want to control her but rather wants her to realize what she wants . Even though they are allies with self interest , he still tries to protect her . He could have let her die at any point there .

I don’t find her annoying. She is strong willed and stubborn and she has been brought up a certain way. She wants to be Ann immortal but is naive to understand that she will need help from people she does not like. I.e the ML who is a demon. They are just showing how the default is that the Eternals are good, the humans are vulnerable weak people , while the demons are evil. She does not know better so we should not fault her for that . There will be growth along with a lot of painful situations and realizations. That will be the story .
I also want to say that this kind of foolish stubbornness needs to be an essential trait to achieve the impossible. And that is the reason Fan Yue is still putting up with her.
