There is a UNIVERSE of options between one hand-holding incident and a mannequin kiss, and "big, gregarious skin…
I don’t get the vehemence of this response. The focus of my post was not to criticize someone for liking skinship in a drama (note when you use parentheses ensure you are accurate when quoting the author). I personally enjoy skinship in series which do it well. My point was that this series was about quiet subtle actions. It reminded me of a Jane Austin novel where the power of the brush of a hand contains overwhelming emotion. That’s all I meant.

For me, personally, this is the type of BL that makes me want to rethink all the other BLs that I've given maximum…
It definitely was different in a good way. It really made me be a patient viewer. The acting was so gentle and subtle. Less was more with this series. It reminded me of a Jane Austin novel where simple glances have huge meaning. We have come to expect physical and verbal expressions of love and affection between characters. In this series it is expressed through food, love of a child, and the memory of a mother.

Bow is over he top enthusiastic
At least she is a supportive character and caring. She may be a bit of comic relief as well but i’s take that of the typical scheming ex any day

I agreed with your post. I can’t figure this character out. The writing is all over the map - which freaking brother is he interned in? OR BOTH? Seriously it’s hard to follow. Or care.

I haven’t watched ep 7 and may be I’ll wait a week. I saw everywhere the spoiler of Pat kissing his ex. Dude…
it might be with the wait (and anger) so you can bypass and hopefully get some reconciliation if it will come…i’m not sure the series seems to be going south

Based on the comments. Seems I’m in the minority for loving this series. I did just binge watch all 7 episodes…
I have liked the series up until Episode 7 and then all of a sudden it’s become the same old storylines and I am worried it’s not going to recover. Fingers crossed.

Dammit, I was hoping this series wouldn’t serve up the typical needy ex girlfriend storyline and there Nara goes cutting up little flower shaped carrots telling Saengtai she’s going to win her man back through her sheer volume of useless knowledge. Well honey little did you know what Sengtai serviced her ex the night before. I long for supportive strong female characters. Nara deserved to be a better character.

Title Our Dining Table Spoiler
Happy ending?
The ending is very deep -ocean deep, To say happy ending is too simple. Hozumi finds his home, is family and it completes him and changes him. It’s miraculous.

Our Dining Table ended as quietly and gently as it began. If I could describe this series it would be that simple actions had the most profound impact. Hand holding while sleeping is the epitome of love and connection in this series and for some who would have liked to have seen more skin ship between the lead characters, you have to take comfort in the soft breathing of Tane as he slept to know this series was more about quiet, small moments than big gregarious action. It was nonetheless beautiful. I loved it start to finish.

Didn’t I watch and dump this series already? Wasn’t it called War of Y? I can’t seem to figure out what is different. If I am wrong, convince me.

Except Kaede. But I still don't understand why divorce is not an option for the characters. Not even one of them…
In North America we have divorce parties 🎉 and celebrate being single again. In Asia you deeply bow and say how remorseful you are.

It is true. Japan has serious shame issues. Divorce is like 1000 on the shame meter.

You're not alone. I remember reading about sexless marriages in Japan a few years back so it's an ongoing issue…
Wow what an interesting statistic. I have been to Japan many times, and it’s a fascinating place. I found gender roles to be very traditional there. Company men were a common sighting going home on the subway at 10 pm. Women had this over feminized style of clothing. I am sure there are outliers but I can only imagine pressure to be a certain way impacts their lives in a profound way.
