I haven’t read the novel, but I imagine the writer wouldn’t intentionally create such an annoying character. I know that Jade is supposedly supportive, but all the mannerisms from the glasses falling down his nose, to the lip pout and the annoying tone in his voice sound like nails on a chalkboard.
