Unexpected

I wanted to watch this story for a couple of cast members... At first...

Then the story threw me off my seat!

The story of how theres a "switch" within each one of us is quite surreal. If you think about it, what happens within the last 2 episodes is something that could be completely true. With thrilling mysterious killings and dark pasts that no one likes to talk about, let alone reveal, it's filled with your typical "good cop" vs. "bad cop" co-worker troupes; however, the story doesn't really focus on the history or future, so much as they focus on the present and their current cases.

Watching the growth of the cast as their characters was pretty intense! The dramatics were a little over the top, at first, but as the story builds and builds towards the finale it's like the puzzle pieces of the entire story are finally fitting together to create the "perfect picture". This show was thrilling and full of suspense, a couple of episodes seemed predictable, but in its entirety this show is a hundred miles above other thrilling drama's I've watched. I would like to think it's at least within the top five of the most mystifying criminal drama shows I've seen!

Genuine Humanity

I wanted to watch this show based on the character list alone, I haven't read the manga or watched the anime (but this made me want to!), and I have to say that 1 - you don't need to read the manga or watch the anime to understand what's going on, and 2 - this is one of the most genuinely real shows I have seen in a long time.

This show is full of honest and real human/humanity moments; without excluding anything, the cast and creators of this show have managed to create a show that is full of human kindness, sadness, anger, frustrations, happiness, courage, trials and tribulations, and so many more things that affect/effect a community... or in this case an apartment complex.

Without being too dark, or giving too many spoilers if any, this show has managed to make me cry, laugh, worry, and get frustrated within a handful of episodes. The characters within this story worked very hard to bring such an important story to life; this story is a very big underestimated gem!

Enthralling Mystery

It is super hard to write a review without any spoilers, but I will try my best!

This show, this story, was so intense; it was like nothing I've ever seen before. I've seen a few stories that uncovered the dark side(s) of government organizations or scientists or people that had an overgrown ego, but this story was so superb and realistic that it was scary!

As the story began to unravel it was becoming more and more enthralling and thrilling at first, I couldn't believe what was happening because it all seemed too easy, too convenient, too predictable but the actual truth behind each case was so tangled up within the REAL truth that I never saw the ending coming; give or take a few moments.

The music for the beginning and ending themes as well as the actual scenes for the beginning and ending themes really added suspense and cunning charm to the story! I like that it showed each person as the story unfolded, something like their own back story but more so how they live their day to day lives even though all this is going on. It sort of felt like watching someone in their own space quarantining during this COVID-19 era.

The cast at first seemed a little forced, like it was just a mishmash of popular actors tossed in together; however, as the story unfolded the cast really made the story as perfect as it is!

Dramatic DNA Chase!

From the beginning this show interested me because of Yasuda Ken and Tanaka Kei, both of whom I am a very big fan of, so I knew that this show was going to be something special. With each case, the DNA never lies... Or does it?

Each case is scientifically and genetically tricky; there were so many twists and turns I felt like Alice in Wonderland a couple of times. Sometimes the science was hard to follow, but all in all the collaborative police work met the DNA in the middle and each case was solved with an (typical to Japanese Police Dramas) episode flash back of what had happened so far. Without the cheesy "I've figured out the culprit!" lines, though.

Each story was so different, yet the ending fell in to place spectacularly as if it was a beautiful puzzle. I could never guess who the culprit was, especially toward the end; and I feel like the last couple of episodes really amped up the theatrics and suspense! This is a thrilling show of epic mystery; with both good humor and dark moments, it is definitely one of my favorite shows! Especially since they filmed and aired this during the COVID-19 pandemic, which had to be extremely exhausting and difficult for the cast and staff to not only work, but do so safely!

Thrilling Puzzles

This show quickly became one of my favorites from the beginning! Suda Masaki is almost like a chameleon the way he blends in to roles time and time again without leaving traces of old characters in them; though he does keep some of his own personality in his characters which is fascinating to watch!

The story follows "just a college student" as he helps the police figure out difficult or confusing cases full of puzzles me "what ifs". But with his on point observations and quirky personality, he has a great way of showing that each human (though different) can be such an amazing person!

The story is full of fantastic cast members that have created a superb and amazing story! The funny moments and sad moments are extraordinary to watch unfold, sometimes they're scary and sometimes they're bittersweet, but the humor continues to slip in almost unnoticed and everything balances to make an incredible story unfold!

Genius Mystery With Fun Adventure

This story is reminiscent of a couple of dramas I've seen before and when you add in the humor it's almost as if this two-episode special is a parody of those two other shows. Which is what makes this quite enthralling to watch, along with the wonderful cast!

I think Kitamura Takumi was the perfect choice for the main character of this story. The way he responds or reacts to a character, or a few words is one of the funniest things I've seen in a while, yet still remaining subtle. Nothing he did was exaggerated or too over the top or goofy. It wasn't a "smart funny" that a lot of people probably wouldn't understand either.

I think the supporting cast was fantastic as well! Each one worked well with the other and the support for the follow throughs and the story in general was spectacular to watch! I wish there were more episodes to watch because the continuation would be something amazing! I would love to watch the cast solve even more crimes!

Enthralling Science

This second season is way more intense than I believed or knew going in to the series as a whole. If you're squeamish or no good with horror or scary things or blood, then please do not watch this series.... but even still it is one fantastic show!

The show focuses on understanding science and the unknown as it's main plot line but the relationships behind the scenes of each case are really what seem to carry the show through one episode to the next to the finale. The belief, respect, and bond that each character and actor/actress has formed between the cast, staff, directors and writers, and even within themselves is amazing to watch grow from season one episode one until the finale of season two!

Again, if you're not good with horror or blood then please do not watch this. But the story is something else! There are remnants of other dramas within this story but it is definitely in a superb category of it's own!

Incredible Science and Dramatics

The entirety of this show is something magical, something I have never seen from a drama before! Granted the story and plot lines are slightly typical and towards the end a bit predictable, but this show is completely and utterly fantastic and perfect on its own!

The story itself is something I have never seen before; the action, the dramatics, the mystery! It has been years since I have seen a show this detailed, researched, specific, heartfelt, and spectacular! The emotion, respect, skill, and dedication the actors/actresses, director(s), writer(s), and staffs is so visible and honest throughout the show that its almost tangible through the screen.

The suspense and mystery is quite thrilling; I never could guess what was happening and the truth of what did happen was so extraordinary that I had goosebumps while watching!

If you like a good mystery, enjoy a good thrill, or like to solve detective shows as they air then please watch this show!

Incredibly Amazing

"Zettai Reido" is one of my favorite series for multiple reasons: the cast, the relationships, the action, the talent and skill, the writing/script, the drama, the story and plot lines, and so much more!

The epic action and drama within the storytelling of this series is fantastic! It flows perfectly from season one to the special episode to the last episode of the last season. The amount of talent, skill, respect, and genuine love for this series and their character by every actor/actress within this series is tangible and equally as epic!

To watch the characters as they grow throughout the series, from season 1 to season 5, or just at season 5 alone, is really extraordinary! Though I do recommend starting from season 1 before starting season 5! If you like a lot of romance then I think you're only going to get a little bit; but the relationship between friends and coworkers within this series is strong and something I really like within the entire show.

Season 5 is full of drama and thrills, beginnings and endings, mystery and suspense, epic fighting and talents. I do think it can be a little dark and scary at certain points, but nothing as terrifying as to give someone nightmares! This show is a fantastic and extraordinary story if you are just beginning or a long time fan of Japanese dramas, by themselves or as cop/detective shows!

Fantastic Season

This show tells a wonderful, funny, heartwarming, unique, mysterious, bittersweet, talented, thrilling, and genuine story about honesty, humanity, and relationships with others and with oneself.

Each case brought the story and cast of wonderful characters together as a team of more than just co-workers; the respect and rapport between each person was almost tangible and made them seem like family. It was great having an episode showcasing each person's strong points that also showed the strong points of how "Zero Gakkari" works together.

The "main" storyline was somewhat the same as the other seasons within this series (1-4) but it doesn't make the show seem boring at all! If anything it seems to tie all the seasons together. Not once did I feel lost within this show, even though there was a couple backlash scenes.

I laughed, cried, and worried with the cast of Zero Gakkari and hope more people will enjoy it too!

Realistic Dramatics

An epic, intelligent, dramatic, hilarious, bittersweet, talented, heartwarming, unique, genuinely real, and full of honest, respectful actors and actresses! The careers, techniques, and admiration for a multitude of hospital careers as doctors and nurses, cleaning and cooking staff, and the patients too was very wonderful to watch.

If you're looking for a dark drama, then this show is about 45% there, and the story does grow more and more interesting as each character's "main back story" comes to light.

If you're looking for some romantic drama then this may not be the show for you, there is some hinting but no love triangles and the importance of friendships, co-workers respect, family, and a relationship with oneself is pretty prominent instead. It is very entertaining and really fantastic to watch the relationship of everyone within the story become closer as co-workers, friends, and grow as a person themselves and as their character's story.

The series in itself does seem to try and teach lessons along the way throughout the 10 episodes but they don't focus only on the lesson to be learned and it's not heavily religious or preachy. This show is one of the most realistic, beautifully created, hilarious, honest, heartwarming yet bittersweet shows I have ever seen.

Exhilarating Action

The story of this show is quite unique! I've seen the "family member/lover/best friend/co-worker" murdered storyline a lot, but this show seems to give more importance to the specialty skills of the DCU and Japanese Coast Guard and police more than the story itself.

The techniques, technology, skill, talent, and respect each actor/actress has for each other as their characters and as their own person really seems to be a true, strong bond; which is important and common for jobs within the police and military. Watching them work together as a team in the Japanese coast guard, as DCU, and as friends/co-workers/family was like watching a live police/military documentary or television show. All actors and actresses seemed to perform their roles as their characters and as police/military members perfectly, with respect and admiration for their jobs and the military/police and themselves. It makes me wonder what training they all went through for this role. The women within this story are some of the strongest people I have seen in any show, Japanese or otherwise.

If you are looking for an interesting, slightly predictable, mystifying, thrilling, funny, heartwarming yet bittersweet, epic action filled show then this is definitely a story for you! There's intrigue and heartbreak, lots of information within the backstory and as the investigations go on. It is a little fast-paced, kind of like you're jumping feet first (diving pun - get it? lol) in to the middle of the story, but it isn't too confusing that you could/would get lost!

Absolutely a wonderful show!

Extraordinary Series

This show is the third in one hell of a series! I watched season one and fell in love, then fell once again while watching the second season... this third season has sent me through a whirlwind!

I binge-watched this season within 2 days! Each episode was thrilling and full of mesmerizing, beautifully captured, suspenseful, and raw stories. The cast was so amazing and full of honest emotions that a few of the episodes not only scared the hell out of me but gave me goosebumps, made me angry, and made me cry... In one episode I even wanted to yell at my screen in worry, frustration, and empathy for a character.

This show is fast paced but you never get lost or fall out of touch with following the story. The report between the cast members as their characters and their own person is so fantastic its almost tangible, and watching it grow throughout the series was wonderful! I do believe that this series is even better than it's American predecessor!

Original Yet Familiar

This show feels like it's drawn from some very prominent, popular, meaningful, and significant Japanese dramas... Yet still has paved it's own way to filling those very same prominent and significant shoes as its predecessors.

This show is intense and quite thrilling! Each episode brings about new mysteries that are mesmerizing and extremely entertaining. I have laughed, cried, held my breath, got angry, sympathized and empathized; each story threw me for a loop but there are some predictable parts, too.

The relationships (romance first) are subtle throughout the entire show but they are also pretty evident, too, though not cheesy or overbearing either. I very much like and enjoy seeing a lot of strong female actresses in this "male dominated job" series. Each actor and actress stepped in to their roll whole heartedly and completely submerged themselves in to their characters career(s).

The strong respect for partners/co-workers (friendships next) is also mildly subtle, yet still visible. It's not heavy or excessive, but it isn't cheesy, the "friends to enemies" type(s) is tangible but is also pretty simple yet not idiotic; and each character freely seems to share their opinion openly and freely multiple times throughout the show, which is what makes it so funny and interesting. It seems like the actors/actresses' report with each other has also flown into how their characters treat and act with each other, too.

If you are looking for a darker police drama then this may not be for you, though it does have dark and mystifying moments! This show is mesmerizing, hilarious, honest, unique, different yet familiar, strong, full of talent, and definitely feels raw and real (as in true to the character's actual persona). If you are just getting started in the Japanese dramas or are a "veteran watcher" or are looking for a new genre to dive in to, then this show seems to have it all!

Simply Hilarious

Some humor and jokes don't travel across cultures well and every person has a different type of humor, but the more you watch this show the more you may understand.

A great show with a fantastic cast of hilarious comedians, including a lot of up-and-coming comedians, some veterans, and even some partners from "manzai" duos! Each episode was thrilling, mysterious, enthralling, and absolutely hilarious watching everyone laugh and tell the most ridiculous stories with even more ridiculous reactions! The cast changes and topic differences are just perfect to carry on the different stories and yet still connect them together. This is absolutely a must-watch if you are just getting started with Japanese dramas (you can get to know some really amazing actors/actresses and comedians) or if you have nothing to watch, and especially if you need a good laugh! I really hope there's a sequel!
