The chemistry between these two, and I don't just mean tension or kissing scenes but also the vibe of tacit understanding, is one of my faves ever. If anyone finds another pair similar to this please let me know.

1. The drugged scene: for once handled right without losing any of the change in r/s plot progression benefits. Others should learn from this.

2. The mean adopted parents ultimately standing up for their girl in a surprise healing moment.

3. The aunt & guns scene: at last I see that trope of narcissistic family member threatening suicide to force marriage turned on its head and manipulative bullshit called out.

Thinking about it, I liked how they did this dodgy dynamic with a little side eye at transgressing boundaries. "gentle!" . That was sophisticated sexy.

Too much smoking for me, and not of the hot kind. In the right mood I like a toxic red flag ML but something about this felt more comedy than steamy to me. What I especially liked :

I just watched this and agree with Jerell's take , which is also why she was able to not only keep her power and her child but even promote her lover- it was a deal she made with her husband to give him an heir. The Commander shot all his medals both in fury that he had won those at the cost of his ability to reproduce, leading to this situation, and in his impotence at not being able to shoot the soldier who had done what he could not. Whole movie gave me Frozen Flower vibes.

The red cloth I think was wrapped around the "serve the people" tablet that had been their signal - first she gave it to him as a farewell memento when he was looking for it on the table- then he returned it to her 15 years later as a call to meet and that is when she walks out never to be seen again - to "serve the people".

Although.....what do you make of the scene where he had just discovered the entrance to the Wizard Cult HQ, and then passed a patrol that would be able to report to and mobilise the Guardians. If he had alerted them then a strong group could have attacked the base and had a chance to succeed, but by changing his mind about telling them he not only failed to beat them all but also startled them into changing the entrance location and put them more on guard.

TY. Do they give the same feeling as the Grandma ones? Because I was surprised how much I enjoyed that despite being no romance (a weirdly young biker Tang showing up at the end doesn't count) . Everything from her Grand Ma'am aura to old guy acting like a baby to the grandsons being whipped into shape just felt so good!
