I really enjoyed this, thanks for this post: your description of logical intrigued me and I kinda agree. The only thing that slightly bothers me is that no-one clocked that his hair had suddenly grown so much seemingly overnight.

No-one has written anything yet so I will, because I'm bored. I found it pretty mid with some good moments.

FL is a film ?producer? who transmigrates into the script set in a border military camp, somehow turning the MC General into a woman and attracting the suspicion of the Deputy General ML.

She doesn't suddenly inherit the original General's fighting prowess but she's undaunted, smart, resourceful, a quick learner, decisive negotiator and apparently also farmer and douser.

The tone is kinda silly comedy which didn't meet my mood so I mostly watched x2 speed but there was the odd actual laugh regardless.

I was hoping for more tension but felt like this was more about her flexing producer and self-sufficiency skills in historical context than hidden identity/forbidden love/female general badassery.

His kisses were pretty good though; he can put tender hunger in fairly puppy-esque eyes quite convincingly. Hers not so much- like she was directed to just grimace for some surface area to show off his jaw work.

This drama had the stupid Grin And Spin moment over a simple occurrence (you know, petals, snow, rain, fireworks, cakes, pretty view: "so beautiful I have to twirl so you watch me and not the scenery" :eyeroll: ) that says Yes I Can Flare My Skirts So Now You Are In Love With Me and I'm there like "girl, respect the Desert ffs!".

He was pretty cute with his persistent need to keep the sun off her that bewildered even himself. My fave scene was when her act of making wine to deal with a salt crisis conspiracy (reasons) drives him into clingy mode and she's impatiently shrugging him off with "stop making all the alcohol evaporate". He realises sweat glistening on his collarbone is too subtle to compete with her work focus and douses himself with water instead to sledgehammer the point home. I'm like "boy, respect the Desert ffs!".

Not the best romance but quite a good vent on abusive directors and exploitative filming conditions. I did like all her workers rights advocacy and "different context, same stench" when all her achievements were ignored only for a man to take all the credit.

ENDING SPOILER:

Open ending leaning sad but conducted by an amusing dancing fairy.

Her wife and the ML mourn as she returns to her world via poison.

It's more like "oh, we actually got the actor who formerly had scheduling issues, win for the project" than "reunited, my beloved" but the girl has backbone and nous, I'm sure she can bring home both the film and the idol.

Sold! You're right about the acting and tender passion- I loved their individual resourceful fighting spirits, dynamic and mutual support. I also liked the buddy and conspiring elders assist: good counter balance to the usual antagonistic female tropes. And omg him trying to make moves in the fluffy oversized jumper was OSSOM! Think that was my fave scene.

The 7th link that Jwells posted has REALLY good subs. This was such a sweet, cavity inducing short drama. I loved…
Thank you for this. It's become the 8th one now, ending UG5w

This is my third version of the story. FL bit more chilled coquette smugness and less former empress vixen energy. They robbed us of didi fun and no childhood friend, but gave more Prime minister- and a novel way to provoke him. I liked the pile at the end- last woman standing. Still feel like Hong Luan Yin is the best so far, but this one does have satisfying moments of exposing hypocrisy.

Edit: Link now deadBound to The Tyrant's Heart on DailyMotion
These Vertical Short Dramas like us to experience the thrill of the chase (and the FOMO) so often hide with different titles, slight edits, swapping platforms etc. @Jwells will often be lower down a page with a list of links under a spoiler tag that do get updated as things shift . Good luck with the hunt!

I thought the same and put it on hold. Shame, such a promising start.

I particularly hate any jealous rival arc when the FL is already reluctant to be part of the ML's scene, like with contract marriage. Whilst she is still unsure it all looks clear. As soon as FL is hooked then the mess ML should have dealt with gets landed on her like a punishment for giving in to feelings.

I still do not understand why they broke up😭😭
It's been a long time since I watched it but, from what I remember, IMHO she didn't like who she was when she was with him, and that was made even clearer to her when his family made her feel so small . After the fireworks between them fizzle out, what was left was not enough for her to trust building a life with- she was experiencing a different kind of loneliness, one that *could* be hidden by the app but she couldn't ignore. It was as if she felt like he wasn't healthy for her even though he wasn't toxic either- she could not grow, she could only shrink. He could never understand that which was only more proof that he could never have fixed it. Romantic love or chemical love as shown by the Love Alarm is not the only love nor something to be enslaved by- she was able to choose what she felt was healthier for her and grow a sincere love over time based on many factors rather than be blinded by an instacrush but left hurting and gaslit because the app showed they were soulmates.

Which ep?
I just reread my first comment and realised it was ambiguous - I am not actually hearing this advert embedded in the music, it's just in my subconscious -and especially with ML eye roll -that it is as if I can hear the voiceover.

Episode 5: There is this quiet pressure running through the whole story, like a breath held back or a ripple under…
Right??!! For me that's why I'm quietly losing my mind over the eating of herbs and mentions of murdered host.
