Well, we are seeing the story mostly from Shen Mo's perspective and so far it seems like his perspective is not objective, he's biased and really lives mostly in his head and daydreams, he always makes things up in his head and assumes things, plus there is the part of his amnesia and foggy memory, so he might not be a reliable narrator. So the reality is probably totally different and not what we're led to believe for now.
Mingxuan also just assumes things without asking, he is being avoidant all the time and instead of actually trying to have a proper conversation and talk about things, he just shrugS things off and runs away. So i think what is really happening here is just an extreme case of miscommunication and misunderstanding.

And lemme tell this as a biologist, the natural, healthy color of teeth in humans is supposed to be milky light-yellowish or with slight gray undertones because the dentin layer of the teeth is naturally yellowish, and the outer enamel layer is not supposed to be white but semi translucent and grayish.
