Can someone please tell me which/how many episodes the leads spend in each other's bodies? Do they switch several times or once for a longer period of time? I'm not a huge fan of body swap dramas and would like to know how prominent this aspect of it is before I start watching.

Love me a good North Korean-South Korean romantic drama with some action silliness, but I gotta say I feel like Nam Gyuri looks more like an idol than like a tough North Korean officer, while Kim Minseok looks more like a soldier than like a global pop star... A bit funny that their roles here don't match their vibes, but I guess that can be rectified with good styling and acting.

Are there no conflict of interest laws in Japan? In episode 1, Sumiyoshi-sensei is shown representing a husband against his wife and his wife's lover and then taking on the wife's counter-suit against the husband the moment the first case is concluded, which is absurd.

What is more, in episode 6, Tamura is forced by his superiors to represent a client who is suing Tamura's own friends/former clients and to seize 5 million yen from them, supposedly because Tamura knows the most about his friends' business and can use this knowledge against them, and his unwillingness to do so is treated as a professional weakness to be overcome rather than a completely reasonable attitude. In most jurisdictions I'm aware of, not only are solicitors encouraged to refuse cases against either people they know in a private capacity or former clients, but in fact taking on such a case and using privileged knowledge of the opposing party to one's advantage is seen as a grave breach of professional ethics.

I don't know enough about Japanese law to say for sure whether this stuff is as unrealistic as it seems, but I'd be shocked if that's how it worked in real life.

I'm enjoying the main story and like the characters, but the romantic subplot lacks tension and chemistry IMO. Seo Eun-woo is likeable, but she's not very interesting, and there's no conflict between her and Yoo Se-yeop; the premise of her saving his life when he is at his lowest point and subsequently becoming a widow herself and teaming up with him when he is preoccupied with restoring his honour and she is unavailable for marriage offers some potential for slow-burn romantic angst à la Bossam, but so far their relationship progress is unnaturally fast and smooth IMO.

I guess I wish the romantic subplot was handled like in a traditional sageuk as opposed to this sweet and insubstantial fusion sageuk style that is supposed to be more youthful and modern.

I'm on episode 5 now and this is exactly the kind of sexy dark romantic thriller I wish they'd make more often. One thing I'll say about the mystery aspect of it is that I like how the 3 men digging into Touko's past are all pursuing different leads and discovering different parts of the puzzle. All too often in these crime dramas where different people are trying to unravel the same mystery you see them follow parallel lines of investigation, so the viewer just gets the same info over and over again, but not here.

Person Kimura Takuya
What makes him so popular and successful IMHO is his casual way of acting and his "next door guy" appearance.…
What? Every time I watch a drama from when he was in his 30s I'm struck again by how insanely hot he was. His face is a work of art.

You may be mistaking 'distinctive features' for 'average looks' for some reason.

I'm seeing some incremental relationship development between Wu Shuang and Yunqi in ep. 14... Before, their arguments about marriage were more superficial, but in today's episode they finally opened up to each other a bit more. Yunqi took Wu Shuang seriously, explained himself in more detail and seemed sorry for causing her pain, and Wu Shuang finally admitted to the real reason she's clinging to this idea of an engagement: not really because her master told her she had to marry Yunqi because he gave her the dragon bone, but because she's an orphan and wants to have a home/family of her own.

They both need to listen to each other a bit more now in order to deepen their mutual understanding, especially Wu Shuang. We know Yunqi is going to change his mind eventually, but his reasons for not wanting to get married at this point in time--he doesn't want to be in the Penta-sect, he doesn't want to get railroaded into a random arranged marriage, etc.--are completely valid and she needs to accept them now that he's done her the courtesy of spelling them out clearly.

Anyway, on a different note: FINALLY the stupid dragon bone subplot is over! God, I was so annoyed waiting for them to get it back for 14 episodes. And dare we hope that Luo Jiutian is really dead? I have the sneaky feeling he'll be back.

I want to watch this, but Meow Sub’s giant watermark in the middle of the screen is so distracting, especially in closeup shots of people’s faces. I get that they don’t want other sites to steal their subs without attribution, but surely the Meow Sub logo in the upper left corner and the chyron that appears at the top of the screen periodically are enough?

What is being developed when Maidservant Kim keeps trying to meddle in Jang Uk's private life without knowing the facts, or Yeol keeps wanting Mudeok to give him things she's not going to give him and they both continue to lie to each other? When Park Jin continues to fumble opportunity after opportunity to confess to Maidservant Kim?

All the filler love triangles serve to stall the story, not to move it forward. The only characters who seem to be getting any 'character development' on this dating reality show are Jin Cho-yeon and Park Dang-gu, but really, it's only their relationship that is being developed, not their characters. (We have no idea why JCY suddenly stopped being obsessed with Jang Uk--getting rejected the first time certainly didn't do the trick, so what happened here?--or how she feels about her missing sister and her mother's descent into madness, and PDG remains totally oblivious to what his friends are doing, carefree and uninterested in his family's important legacy.)

This is all filler, not character development. How is Heo Yoon-ok staying in Jang Uk's room for four hours developing her or his character? What does it say about her, other than she's got a hopeless crush on him, which we already knew? How does the crown prince being jealous over the jade pendant and throwing it away develop his character? (Mudeok did have to admit to herself she cares about the pendant in order to find it, so I guess that scene wasn't totally pointless.)

Again, this stuff is all filler. At least the training montages and wild capers are more fun for me personally.

This is a fun drama, but it's so slowwwwwwwww, by God. We're 70% done and Naksu hasn't regained her power yet, Jang Uk doesn't know about his birth secret, his father is nowhere to be found, people around Jang Uk are only now beginning to ask themselves why Mudeok seems to be at the bottom of every suspicious situation (and no one seems to have noticed that Jang Uk and Mudeok like each other apart from Mudeok's other two suitors), the fake Jin Buyeon hasn't even entered Jinyowon yet, let alone been exposed so that Mudeok's identity could be revealed, we have no idea what's up with Mudeok's soul and how it's affecting Naksu or their shared body, we don't even know what Naksu is thinking about doing after she regains her power, Seo Yeol has known that Mudeok is Naksu for like 10 episodes and his knowledge hasn't affected the plot in any way, etc. etc. etc.

In the absence of any important information being revealed and prompting characters to take action, we've been going around in circles with multiple self-absorbed women deciding they are going to marry Jang Uk against his will and talking to Maidservant Kim about it (was this subplot so good it had to be repeated immediately with a different female character?), multiple guys deciding they like Mudeok and will use the power differential between them to take up her time, the childish middle-aged love triangle, Mudeok and Jang Uk constantly getting separated for silly reasons, etc. The Jin matriarch has been looking for her daughter for ages and we only just learnt her husband is part of the conspiracy to scam her.

Anyway. As I said, it's a fun watch, but it's blatantly obvious they're saving a bunch of stuff for season 2. This season will probably end with Naksu regaining her power and being separated from Jang Uk, and season 2 will be dedicated to his parentage and possibly some sort of civil war in Daeho.

They could have easily fit all that in 20 75-minute episodes, or perhaps 24 if they were feeling really ambitious about the plot, if they'd cut out all the stupid love triangles, harems, reverse harems, unfunny comedy, etc. It feels like there are two dramas going on at the same time with all the fantasy politics on the one hand and the idol romance drama nonsense on the other.

OK, I'm on episode 11 and so far the drama has been going around in circles and, which is worse, making the characters behave illogically so it can stall the plot progression. We've been talking about opening the Small Kunlun Mountain tomb for several episodes now, *just so* DYQ can get the dragon bone he lost in episode 1 back, and we have already been told it's not even the opening to the real Kunlun Mountains. We're 1/3rd into the drama! When are things going to start happening?

The Long Night, The Bad Kids, A Murderous Affair in Horizon Tower are all good dark cdramas, but they're crime dramas, not sci-fi ones. I can't think of another cdrama exactly like Reset.

365: Repeat the Year and Kairos are kdramas you might like.
