You're right. I don't care for personal freedom at the expense of social responsibility. By your logic, a serial killer can also practice their "personal freedom" by going on a killing spree but now that wouldn't be so ethical/moral of them now would it? A narcissist can continue to practice their personal freedom by continuing to manipulate the people around them but surely that's not the "right" thing to do, is it? see how silly those examples sound? That's how silly it is to generalize something so nuanced like personal freedom when you live with other people in a society *gasp*. If you or i were living on planet mars for eg. with no other human beings to care about, then we can talk about personal freedom with all the risky or harmful behaviors there are.

And idk about you but personally, if someone became a lifelong addict or lost even a few good years of their life because they listened to my biased misrepresentation of a harmful substance or behavior, i would hope that someone puts a restriction on my personal freedom for humanity's sake lol

Someone's personal freedom does not give them a free pass to endorse risky behaviors by diminishing it's risks. And since i wasn't clear in the original comment, i was not talking about medical use of prescribed drugs for people who need it. I'm talking about recreational use. That comes with social responsibility. Not just personal freedom.

Purely from the summary, among all the january 2025 releases, this and Unmasked sound the most interesting.

Ya let's totally just start romanticizing one poison coz something else is getting all the clout, great logic. Substance use in any form shouldn't be getting apologists spreading misinformation online trying to endorse it. The legalizing of recreational drugs has more nuance as to why it happened, having more to do with politics, power and control and less to do with it being comparable to some low addiction potential stimulant like caffeine or tea. Of course caffeine abuse is a real thing too but the literature on marijuana or any other psychoactive substance is way above anything that even makes this a comparison. It's called a gateway drug for a reason. People need to stop expecting their idols to behave like Gods, and we can have a separate conversation about that without making this an opportunity to defend substance use of any kind no matter who does it, law enforcement or a freaking doctor.

Sounds very much like Happiness. Will be very difficult to top that one from screenplay to performances to main and supporting cast to the OST imo

Been so long since an OST just hits like this show's does. The lack of memorable OSTs in recent dramas might've played a big role in why so many of them simply didn't reach their potential imo. An OSTs job is to elevate the show and this one absolutely does justice. The scene where Hee joo teaches Saeon how to sign became so much more impactful with that beautiful song in the background. Only squeals and heart eyes for this show :")

This year has been pretty crazy for sleeper hits...Lovely Runner, The Judge From Hell, and now When The Phone Rings...shows that nobody was anticipating and got little to no promotion compared to the traditional big names and all 3 of them ended up being superior to the most anticipated dramas this year! Like I wouldn't even have heard about WTPR if I hadn't already added it to my watchlist last year after reading the summary purely by chance. This is why I love drama fans. Content before popularity!

And the show itself deals with a president's spokesperson and references to the president and his office...that's gotta be a bit insensitive for the general public of SK for a while especially on a national channel like MBC...besides other shows like Marry You are also postponed so this is expected

This sounds similar to the cdrama Love Game in Eastern Fantasy, loved that show! In general too, this plot has a cdrama feel to it. Hope its entertaining and fun
