Apparently the first 12 episodes was written by the screenwriter and has nothing to do with the original novel. My friend who has read the book says the plot picks up after that. I just finished episode 12 myself so will see how it goes.

So I am rewatching Along with the gods and checked which actress played the god of deceit. It was Kim Soo An, who plays Ip bun here :D So she and Kim Hyang Gi has worked together before this. Thought it was a little fun fact.

Yes I also enjoy historical investigation dramas :D I am also watching on viki, and for me it's better that it's updating slowly because I am terrible at binge watching xD

I've fallen behind a bit, still on episode 10 because of other shows dropping likes flies and the fact that I had an exam xD Is the plot still interesting?

Here I thought Yuan Wei and Pei Ji Huai would have gotten together by now, but they only met those few times in the first episodes xD I thought they were cute. Oh well.

For me it's quite relaxing to watch :) Hopefully you will like it.

I'm watching Miss Chun is a litigator, which is a costume drama with some crime solving if you find that enjoyable.

First 4 episode were nice, but the ML sure has not done a lot yet.

Well it would depend on what you enjoy. The further in you get the more politics there are for example. I enjoyed the whole thing, but there is less martial arts stuff then I had hoped for tbh.
