I like LBY fine but if he wanted what was best for her he would not have proposed to her and let her live a normal life, since that would have let her be free as she wished. I love the couple but I disagree with you about who is less deserving of who :)

I do not know the real reason but basically too many works with time travel was done during a few years. China wanted people to appreciate the here and now, and not dream of going back in time to be a princess. This is my understanding of it and it was quite many years ago since I heard it so may not be correct.

Time travel :) Which is why the element was removed from the drama. It is also why now days instead of time travel the character ends up in a book or tv series or something of the sort.
