I'll make it short: the first half of the drama was awesome, the second half was disappointing.
I really loved the actors tho, Chen Xiao & Liu Yi fei did an amazing job at acting their characters. However the writing of the drama was all over the place, they tried not to be cliché at first and that's why the first 20 eps something was really good. But after that they went with the obvious trope of "I don't deserve your love because bla bla bla"; like seriously??🙄 And then the drama went down the drain, it became boring and dragging till the end.. Such a disappointment, a drama with so much potential and great cast🤦🏾‍♀️7/10.

waste of my time and waste of good plot and talented actors! like at first the drama was boring then at 20 something ep, it started to get interessting then at 30 something episodes it just went more and more down the drain. I found myself skipping most of the parts till the ending, and the death of Qin ShuiGen was really rushed and unsatisfying .. I have to say that overall the drama was okay and the production quite mediocre (those CGI omg🙄) but at the same time I know the lead actress is great because I've watched her previous drama, but this one really did not give her justice.. 7.5/10 for me :/

This drama looks SO FUCKING GOOD I swear! I'm drooling over the trailer! Both leads look so good! I'm so happy to watch another Nini's work! she's a fantastic actress! and the story really looks promising, I can't wait!!!!

awesome drama, I really loved the lovestory , the whole scenario, the actors and everything. I also want to add that I can totally understand why DeokIm didn't want to say she loves the king. Because she litteraly almost lost everything while being with him, the only way she could protect herself was by not giving him the last bit part of herself and for women at that time it was a
great deal. Like the dowager queen said: the palace is just a dazzling prison and I feel like everyone living there at that time were kinda miserable. I've watched a lot of historical dramas through the years, be it chinese or korean, and my feeling is the same : I don't envy those royals, because they were ripped off their freedom 😥

For once I really hoped there would be a season two with both Deok Im and Yi San meeting in the modern world and falling in love together again. 😭

Good drama, the story was good and the characters too, I really liked the fact that the ML wasn't cold and rude, but often showed his feelings and at the end of the drama he would cry in the FL's arm and I really love to see this vulnerable side on male characters.
However I think the drama overall was too dreamy, all buterflies and bubbles, not really the kind of smooth life people could live irl...On this note I rather prefer the drama "Where the lost ones go" , even if it doesn't have the best ratings, it will forever stay in my mind as the best youth drama, the one that had my eelings upside down and made me empathize with the characters!

this drama is really GOOD! I am satisfied on both the romantic plot and the political war part of the plot too. Every actor and actress were good looking and their acting was wonderful! For once I really loved the female lead's character all through the drama, she didn't disappoint at all! and the chemistry between the leads was off the roof! I also really liked Guangyao's character, a real gentleman from start till end. The plot, scenario, acting, everything was very interesting to watch, I was rarely bored while watching(still there are some few annoying parts tho) but overall it's a great drama. Kuddos to every supporting actors, they really did a great job and I was really attached to each one of them! I definitely recommend this drama! 9/10. 😍👍🙌

well I'm glad it's over now! I can officialy say that I'm extremely disappointed by this drama. It had a great cast, gorgeous costumes, great budget BUT no real chemistry between the main leads. Yet there was such a strong bromance between FJM & the emperor that I almost thought they were the main couple lol. I'm so disappointed because I waited so long for this drama to air and I had so much expectation because of the cast. don't get me wrong YangMi acted as great as always and her character was really good too, I supported Haishi all through this drama. However William Chan's character here was sooo bland omg, almost no feelings in his eyes and words..And I know for a fact that William Chan is good at acting and usually has chemistry with his co-stars( I really loved him in Lost Love in Times😍) but in this drama I felt like it was such a waste of good casting, even the emperor and Tilan were sweeter together than our main leads.. Also the script was appearently different from the book in a good way however it didn't make the story any better, I felt so bored most of the time while watching this.
Maybe I had too much expectation for the cast and the drama itself but well it was such a disappointment for me :(

I really enjoyed this drama, it was funny and serious at the same time. In one episode you can go from laughs to tears in few minutes and I really liked that they could mix everything together and the result was great! I really love Kim Min Jae, he's a versatile actor, as for Park Gyu Young I was really impressed by her character and they both had great chemistry even behind the camera! I definitely recommend.

very good drama! as everyone said it was really stress free without important characters having to die while being interesting to watch! And Peng Xiao Ran , I must say was brilliant in this drama, her acting was so smooth and natural, I really felt like it wasn't forced at all! I had always wanted to see her in GMP but as it was a sad ending, I couldnt watch. But now I became fan of her, she has a baby smile and such a cute face, and more importantly she can act out any scenes: emotional, inspiring speech, funny ones; Excellent!!
As for Jin Han , I had already watched him in various other drama, I think he is handsome too. However I just hope his real personnality isn't trash!

Overall, it's a good watch! I will definitely watch another PXR's historical drama (except GMP lol). XD

The writers keep creating drama and twists out of nothing. Boring and cliché as hell! Im really disappointed by this drama, I started watching beacause of my faith in Zhao Lusi"s acting skills but she couldnt carry this whole sh**** drama on her own, which is normal. Don't get me wrong, I like romantic cliché stories and I love LuSI but this one is a biig NO, don't waste your time watching this. It's plain and the plot is complete nonsense!!! I dropped it in the middle of ep 19, didnt have any energy left to stay till the end.🙄

Great drama!! I really should have watched it sooner! It was so melancholic, intriguing, interesting, and a really loveable drama! The plot seems complicated at first but I recommend you to not quit because of that because the story gets better and better! Really bravo to the cast, directors, writers etc!!?

It's really hard to find dramas with strong female leads from the start till the end of the drama, but as everyone recommended, "The story of Minglan" was pretty good in this aspect. However the one I bow my hands down to is "The Empress of China". I have watched it several years ago and I can still remember the charisma of Fan Bing Bing till this day. A great piece indeed! ^^

On The Rebel Princess Apr 6, 2021
Well first, I want to say that I see no problem with an old actress playing a younger role, it didn't even last that long anyways. Secondly, I would like to say that I'm utterly disappointed by the scenario, the story of this drama. I thought it was called 'Rebel Princess', but guess what, there was no rebellion in the actions or words of the female lead! The only thing she did and deserved respect for, was defending Huizhou city, that's all! All the rest of the drama, she was mopping around with no will power and not even a little of resentment for those who hurt her and her husband. Her family and relatives tried to kill them so many times I stopped counting, and then she just embraced them with warmth. Like the heck! I understand that's it's hard to kill family, I didn't even wish for her to take revenge against them, but JUST don't talk to them, or at least show them you are mad and stop defending them in front of your husband who had suffered great loss because of your relatives! I was SO frustrated throughout the second part of the drama, I was so mad at Awu, being so biased with her relatives. I repeat, I didn't want her to kill them, but at least show them that by doing evil they will lose your love and warmth and stay away from them in the future.
At least karma came back at most of the evil characters, or else I would have died of injustice and frustration!!!
I'm very disappointed in how Awu was portrayed and how women were portrayed in this drama. I thought it would be about women's empowerment and her living with courage and fierceness and not let her life be controlled by others, but it didn't live up to my expectations at all. All I saw is a woman with the gift of speech. The actors did a great job at playing their characters but the story really didn't live up to the expectation for this drama. And there were a lot of filling episode, it should have been over at 58 episodes, it was really dragging at some point.
So if you're here to see a strong female lead with strong faith and decisiveness, I recommend you to find another drama. But if you are looking for great acting you sure can watch Rebel Princess.
PS: I really appreciated Xiao Qi's character, I think he really overshadowed Awu, with his self control and charisma. And Wang Lin's character was great too, he was a charismatic villain.

I understand what you feel so well! Actually I moved on by watching bts and news about the drama The Wolf and watching Darren Wang's funny/cute videos on Youtube for one straight afternoon then the next day I started watching another drama, but it's not as good so I am super bored. I also read manhuas too lol. The best way is to not dwell too much on the drama, and watch other things like Tv shows, read books etc.. in order to give yourself a transition time T.T
