So fun! I love where the romance is slow burn and the couple have to go through A LOT to be together. My only gripe would be that the kisses were lame (brief lip touch) when the rest of the production was so beautifully directed. 8/10.

How did I miss this for so long?! Hilariously romantic, smart gender-bending writing and fairy-world mystery to be solved. I bet the ML and FL have powers. Using the red string of fate myth in this way is so heartfelt. I’m loving all the secondary characters too (the beggar fortune teller especially) and their madcap attractions. I’ve laughed so much and only on ep7. I’ll watch this one so fast!

Cute concept that had a very clever script in a lot of ways but it needed more conflict for 24eps. They fall in love too quickly and being all happy after that isn’t great drama. Yawn. There should have been more secrets between them. Jiu Liu Overlord was better. Also, why write a drama that’s about the joy of sensuality in touch, taste, feeling and then avoid really greedy kisses? There’s so much hugging. Maybe kisses were censored for being too delicious…! Had to drop after 9eps but ML is going to be the next top star for real. He’s astonishingly talented.

Very fun but all the side characters had better chemistry than the leads. Weird to make it so suggestive then have no steamy moments at all. One lame kiss that felt very unrealistic does not count. You’ll wait a long time for them to get together too. I wish this had been a lot better.

Sure but actors who play FLs know exactly how to kiss - they must do in their own lives - they just aren’t allowed to show any wanting or desire because she might not need the ML to ‘show her the way’. Pah. I would love to see more FLs who the directors allow to express their needs more honestly without being a villain. That said, cdramas have been better this year on this point.
It might be western perspective but I’m deeply worried that falling birth rates might be because everyone (especially women!) in Asia is not allowed to do anything that might make a 👶
It can’t be a western thing for a woman to want to kiss the man you’re falling in love with, can it? Why do they need to be reluctant, uneasy or forced into it? I know I’m overthinking but still 🤷‍♀️

Agreed! Intimacy of two people in love and the drama is so much better for it. I wish all the other creators would take note. That office kiss scene was ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

Clever concept based on a misunderstanding. Exciting leads with chemistry. Neat performances. LAME, fake, stilted kisses. Censorship wins. Why make a romance if what you really want to write about how games are made by a bunch of students with no experience? As soon as they got together (who could tell tho because they never touched each other) this lost all tension and I skipped through final episodes.

Loved the story and the way they teased it all out to the very end but the kisses were rubbish. Weird frozen lip locks that totally destroy your belief in romance.

Colour me surprised! Bumpy start with first few eps (thanks to very low budget) but after ep5 it becomes something so good! The writing really picks up. I loved the way they teased out the emotional conflict and the ML’s believable struggle to accept how he felt. FL and grandpa were solid in support. Kid was super cute. I’d love to see this team get a bigger budget and produce another drama starring the ML. This writer/director knows the job! Reminded me a lot of The Love You Give Me and Unforgettable Love.

If the main conflict can be solved by the couple leaving everyone else behind that’s not enough drama to sustain 24 episodes and it shows. Why wasn’t there a bigger reason why they couldn’t hook up once she decided to leave her terrible relationship? They just moaned to each other about the circumstances but never did anything to help themselves out of it. The Koreans did it so much better. I dropped after 14 so it might have improved but I doubt it. I wanted to love it and I thought all the performances were wonderful (especially her family and the ML) but the writing was poor. I found the translations on Viki really clunky/ confusing too because it wasn’t clear what they were referring to half the time or the context was lost. Desperately I want more adult dramas like this with more intelligent writing.

Such a comforting drama! I haven’t seen performances and writing this good since Hometown Cha and I loved how the story blended a sports romance with corruption and undercover investigation. Reminded me a lot of what I loved about Weightlifting Fairy and Fight for My Way. Intrigue is just enough but doesn’t hinder the romance or fabulous cast of quirky local characters! I wish there were more kissses but otherwise just so cosy.

😩 why do they ruin dramas in this way. I feel sorry for the actors because shows would be so much more viral if kisses were allowed to stay as written/performed.

Viki stitches short dramas together in bigger episodes but they are all on there.

Proper kisses for a change! Real intimacy, sweetness and romance between the main couple which wasn’t derailed by any annoying side characters. Engaging performances. It was steamy but not too much. I would happily rewatch this one endlessly. Why can’t all cdramas be written and directed like this one?!

I thought Only for Love was surprisingly steamy (Dylan Wang ❤️) but the scriptwriting was 🤦🏼‍♀️so I skipped a lot of it. My fav has to be Here We Meet and The Love You Give Me of Late. They were well-written romance with quality kisses. I’m about to dive into Derailed this week - wish me luck 😁

I’d never expect HBO levels of heat 😂 but I’d love to know if I’m missed some good kisses in dramas. I really liked ones in Kunning Palace this year. Their chemistry was 🔥🔥

I’d still say watch it as it is one of the better written stories - just don’t expect any heat. It’s a stand out for me on clever use of sound effects and I did find that enjoyable. Not sure Chinese dramas will ever have any real steam but we can still enjoy some of them anyway.
