its also very unrealistic because during that time.. it wasn't very wise to just walk away from a marriage as…
I get where you’re coming from, but from my perspective, I think they found a balance. The women in the story do have some freedom, but it’s not like they’re just walking all over the men or ignoring societal norms completely. They show respect where it’s due. look at Song Mo and Dou Zhao, for example. Dou Zhao and Song Mo have a mutual dynamic where they respect each others decisions. It wasn’t one-sided or forced. But for Ming, she trusted her husband blindly, thinking he’d always have her back (despite him ALWAYS letting her down), and look where it got her...dead. So, while the show might lean into a more modern take at times, it’s not completely dismissing the realities of that time period. It’s a mix of empowering the women while still grounding them in respect and consequences. Because unfortunately even in present times, there are women who blindly follow their partner like Ming, which as history has shown time and gain, does not bring out the best outcome.

This drama has such a strong pro-women message, and I’m absolutely loving it! It really shows the difference between WANTING a man and NEEDING one. its clear the women aren’t afraid to walk away from their marriages or relationships the moment they feel suppressed, and I think that’s so powerful. What I also appreciate is how realistic it feels like, not everyone is ready to support a woman breaking away from a patriarchal system, and sometimes it’s her own family holding her back. So far, I’m hooked! The chemistry is amazing, the friendships are so wholesome, and I love how they show that family isn’t just about blood and that sometimes strangers can become your family too. I can’t wait to see how it progresses.

I can’t lie and say I didn’t enjoy this drama. Literally binged it over 3 days and cried at the end. The chemistry…
SAMEEE!!! The FL constantly chasing the ML was seriously starting to get on my nerves. To put it in your words GIRL PLEASE STAND UP!! She let her entire life revolve around him, and it was exhausting to watch. What’s even more frustrating is that the guy never, not even ONCE, made an effort to take the first step. Like, seriously?! I absolutely love the show but the one-sided effort is so frustrating.

I went into this expecting a rom-com (the title certainly gives off that vibe and I had not watched the trailer), but it turned out to be so much more—and I loved it. That said, I have a major issue with Gao. His character is utterly despicable and infuriating. Watching him pull cheap stunts to get Li Xun out of the way is downright frustrating. Every time he’s on screen, I get very upset. And don’t even get me started on Xu Lina—what’s the deal there? She is from a rich family but apparently Gao is the one in control of her lifestyle?!?!?!? I’m still trying to figure out their dynamics. On the brighter side, I love the light comedy the Flying Company team brings.

I did a deep dive and someone made a comment on reddit that I found the most logical. Apparently the ML and FL are good at faking their death (We did not actually actually see Ning's and Ruyi's dead bodies). Also, in the Beipan camp, the guy from the scarlet team who signaled the others to raid the camp actually helped her escape. Since I love a good ending, I choose to accept this theory. But there is a lot of holes.

I just finished watching, and I think I need to go outside and touch some grass—maybe even avoid screens for a while.

Wait… was that really the lead’s son? It looked like Chu Yue was hallucinating—or maybe it was some sort of life-after-death scenario. But how could he be the ML’s son when Ruyi died in that tent with the Beipan officials? I came to the comments see how people interpreted the ending.

wtf... did they change the writers after ep. 35? The pace went up really fast and everything is kinda confusing.…
I knooooww. All over sudden the MOST POWERFUL assassin is reduced to the most fragile weak person ever. it was confusing to watch how they weakened her character in the last episodes.

Should have checked the ending sooner...I'm dropping this. Sigh!
Wish I had looked up the ending too because now I'm drowning in a pool of tears. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend anyone to watch past episode 30—it's pure HEARTBREAK!!!!!!
