Title The Story of Pearl Girl Spoiler
Is duanwu, Yan zhijings sister? just started watching, so bit confused is duanwus mother, lady Yan? can someone…
Their fathers were business partners together. They aren't related except by family association. Like the steward of a family isn't necessarily blood related but would still have a title linking them to the family.
At closest relation they could be cousins, but I don't think that's the case when they explained their past connection to one another.

I was thinking the same. But I guess they are depicting the typical mob mentality here 🤣🤣
You get me...which is why you got the essay.

Because in those days we didnt have social media to spread nasty rumours. Mob rules and get enough people on your…
Yeah, but to use the same technique repeatedly is either lazy writing or just lack of creativity. It's just that it keeps happening over and over again with very little difference in start to finish and not a single character other than named characters going "time out and lets hear the other side". Its on the same street....after repeatedly being proven wrong with ulterior motives at play. I need a different technique used to take them down is all I'm saying.

I will never understand someone hell bent on revenge for a family that treated them poorly. I get wanting to claim back somethings that once belonged to said family. But they treated their own child badly & then you find out they are also directly responsible for the death of 100s of people from another family(and others) with one known survivor left and are like "I need to finish what they started." Girl, sit down, get some help. You should be girl bossing your way to the top as you dance on their graves. You were never going to win daddy's love girly pop.

So comment ended up an essay...my bad.
Yeah, I get the mob mentality pile on, but like this is the 4thish time it's happened in the show in the same town(on the same street) and all other times the side yapping the loudest was in the wrong so you would think it would give the town idk sooomme kind of pause to think it through.
But they see a well dressed man and are like "I believe everything coming out of this person's mouth"
I think there have been less than a handful of shows that depict a crowd having someone logically question what is happening in front of them that isn't a named character. Most of the time it's multiple people in the crowd with the same complaint before a whole mob of people chime in with support. Or multiple plants in the crowd to drum up negative sentiment.

But for some reason in this town all it takes is 1 to 2 men talking over the person they are accusing with little to no receipts to back their public claims before the whole street is like "burn the witch".
2 men harass and SA people in Clear Mind and then try to say they were threatened/hit by the Clear Mind workers...they were being kicked out of a private business for harassment. We've seen countless shows of people being tossed out of businesses & I'm just like...wth...I also get the fact that it's because Clear Mind is run by women that that issue was able to escalate, but still.

I just need them to stop using this "outside business call out" because it's getting repetitive and I just need more stealth moves being made by the bad guys, because they be acting like the CoolAid Man busting walls down. If the "good" guys are the only ones able to work in the shadows the game of cat and mouse becomes less interesting. But the pawns aren't as smart as the power behind them aka Prince Ying and Dock guy who was "friends" with DuanWu's father...i don't care what anyone says that man is sus as fuck and he killed Lil Shrimp. The one person who is aware enough to realize that something is a trap by ML is a woman, so of course she gets talked over and disregarded as "overthinking and worrying for no reason".

Apparently you can yap in front of any place of business in this town and lie and cause a scene and get your way without anyone in the crowd questioning your motives. I get it I do...but not ONE person is like "Humm this grown man is throwing a hissy fit in front of a group of strangers instead of going to the authorities with a complaint. Seems sus."?

all 3 of the them .
They(mother & son) handle things in a similar way. Feeling shameful & burdensome to their loved ones, so I liked they parallel each other a bit.

Won't.... won't it be GAY?
If you think at any moment that FL looks remotely like a man...sure. But I have yet to see a single frame that does a decent job making her look masculine. There was an attempt to give her a sideburn sort of...but brushing baby hairs forward do not sideburns make.

That scene in episode 29 with Lusi and Tang Xiao Tian made me even more excited for Love's Ambition don't know how much their scenes will overlap as he'll be more Brother-in-law than love triangle 2ML(he plays the love interest of her sister). And Lil Shrimp playing her step-son. The gangs going to be getting back together again and again. (for promo/press)
They starting filming Pearl Girl in Nov of 2023 wrapped in March of 2024. Started shooting Love's Ambition in June 2024, wrapped in September of 2024. Then immediately started the promo/press run for Pearl Girl in October. Love's Ambitions press/promo tour is about to be hilarious.

If the ending won't be to our liking we can just go ahead and watch Moonlight and pretend it's them after waking…
I'm waiting to watch that one as a chaser incase I'm disappointed in the ending or I just want more time with the actors later. I was like, don't do it, not yet.

The drama is almost ending. We basically don't know anything about the author Fu Zhou, except that he will be…
I'm sure it will be a 5-10 minute tops actual world running into each other type of deal like with Fateful Love, The Romance of Tiger and Rose and with Story of Kunning Palace. I hope this one is different as they knew going in that they needed to follow certain rules put into place by the censorship review board.

ML's half sister is so annoying. I hate her more than the mom
In this one the little sister isn't as hostile toward the FL. She doesn't blame the FL for her fall down stairs. In this one it's very clearly a mother using one child against another, and then a young child being afraid and confused after no one will let her see her parents & clinging to her older brother for comfort.
We haven't really seen much of the little sister in the time jump, but she is unaware that her brother moved. She thinks he's on a vacation and begs their mother not to bother him during this time as he needs a break. So even though she's still a student she's matured in some ways. We'll see in the next episode how she takes the news of her brother's permanent move. We don't yet know if she's aware of the abuse he's endured the past 10 plus years. Nor if she's fully aware of the circumstances of her half-sister's death and how her mother blamed her brother for her mistakes.
The OG sister, was unhinged.

I think the show lost its edge after the timeskip. After showing such a strong bond between all these characters,…
It wasn't explained well in this version. It's the only thing that I think has missed the mark in this adaptation, but I understand why they shortened it the way they did.
(For those who don't know the original story, if you do disregard) In the OG, Hae Jun's bio father blackmails Hae Jun by causing issues with Jeong Jae's restaurant. Only after agreeing to to to England does the bio dad relent. He goes to England for college/where his bio dad's family is, but soon after his bio dad is able to have another child with his wife, and Hae Jun becomes redundant. He has to have multiple jobs to make ends meet because he refuses to take the bio dad's money, and it takes him a while to get back to China.
San Ha's character has to move to Singapore(aka a different country) to help raise his sister and take care of his mother because like in this adaptation she keeps trying to kill herself when left alone. He tries his best to protect his little sister from being abused. His mother steals and hides his passport so he is unable to leave the country and go to the FL.
The communication gets less and less because of how busy everyone is and just ends up being New Years and Birthday texts. San Ha's character gets regular updates about FL from 2FL.
In the OG there is also this somewhat toxic mindset from the boys where they base their entire future around the FL and her wants/needs aka very co-dependent mindset. 2ML opens a bakery because FL loves sweets. ML became a dentist because FL was afraid of the dentist, but loved sweet things. ML was laser focused on getting back to FL and FL was the ONLY happy thing in his entire world to the point of obsession. I'm honestly grateful that they changed this aspect as it was repeating similar patterns that his mother showcased with him. And because they never went in-depth with mental health and the need for some serious therapy I'm glad they toned those plot points down a bit. San Ha is less overbearing(not really the word I want but the only one that comes to mind right now) than the ML was in the OG story.

all 3 of the them .
In Hae Joon's mother's defense...being the child of a murderer is very stigmatized in Korea. She didn't want him to have to live with that, and knew how loved he was by his father(Yoon Jeong Jae) so she thought she was doing the right thing. She wasn't being selfish, but selfless, but misguided none the less.

The other two mothers(San Ha's and Dal's) are selfish and only want what their kids can do for THEM. One uses suicide as a way to blackmail her child into staying, and the other has a set standard that her daughter should fit and mold herself into, and nothing but that is good enough.
