They wanted to sell the BL to a wide range of streaming platforms. Four of them where state owned and are bound by Chinese regulations. In all moment this BL has been promoted as "Chinese BL" targeting Chinese audiences that should have not been targeted as it is illegal there (also encouraging illegal streaming via foreigh VPNs). Some of this platforms promotes this BL as being a Taiwanes BL to bypass the problem, but the production is registered in China. In other cases of "Chinese" BL the productions, these have been registered in other countries e.g. Thailand. so even it was show in e.g. Iqiyi, they were not in infringement because it was not a Chinese production. Probably, there are more reasons but these are the main ones that have transpired.

Dear All, I would suggest to stop discussing the issue with the Chinese owned platforms. We knew the stand of the Chinese government in relation to BLs. We are the international audience, a lot of us watch in Rakuten Viki - which has very cheap options for subscribing. Lots of you are in Gagaoola which is excellent for LGBTQ+ related content. The more wave we created the more will affect the actors back there. They are ordinary actors, they have been acting for years in different production tiers. They probably felt tempted by the quick "fame" BLs provide and wanted to be known abroad. Let's support them when they organise fans meeting in other countries which is a great source of income for an actor and enjoy ABO Desire. I am sure Chinese fans will find a way to continue watching and are not so worried as some of you are here.

The government did not take it from the air, were the streaming platforms for reasons that are still not clear. The government could be homophobic, but the Censorship Agency have various grounds why stop productions being aired, excessive violence, obnoxious content, graphic sex. They are also not fond of Armageddon type of narratives/ghosts, it is such a long list in a very controlling Censorship Agency. They have their idea of manhood as well, so they hate k pop groups, they are not allowed to perform in China, Probably most k pop boys are not gay but present themselves as effeminate and/or sell homoerotic fantasies. Famous Taekook, Woosan, etc. It is very multilayer. BLs hit the wrong marks at various point. You cannot deny that BLs are highly sexualised so it is more that one category. During all 1970s in UK, in a democratic country, there was a radical conservative censorship agency and nothing passed, if there was a bit of swearing, hard rock music they hate it all. Chinese people dont have access to YouTube. They need to change the VPN which is forbidden when you are living in China. Everybody does but it is not allowed. For instance top earning stars only post in their instagram accounts when they are abroad.
