Well said, unfortunately MDL is not longer a reliable source. The rating here drop in few hours, not even in 24 hours. What's going on? As you say, other platforms are far more reliable

I love the series but I feel we need to know quickly why she is the way she is. I don't buy it because she is "mixed race", because all the people linked to Motel California are kind of relatives of some sort and all are despised. So there is more to it.

This has come down from 8.8 to 7.9 what kind of mafia runs this place?, and it is happening with lots of drama, some even long time after they have finished broadcasting. For my own sanity I block lots of people while I am reading.

This is a very intriguing series, with great chemistry and acting that we are just starting to discover. I have so many questions myself, we need to know more about FL character's motivation at the moment her character reacts so randomly. There is also that all people associated to Motel California are somehow relatives and looked down by the rest of the community, Why? this is precisely the journey we are in. I hope this explanation comes quick as not to incentive more negativity towards this promising drama.

I was surprised to read that some people here believe this is the first BL of Ito Asahi!? He is a "veteran" of the genre! He is the love of Atsuhiro (Mob) in Zettei BL..., which has became a kind of franchise. He also was in another production about a girl obsessed with BL which name escape me at the moment and I am sure there is at least one more.

I do, but i am still watching....there is not much what we can do about it....Mi Chinese friends, living in China told me that audiences there always raise their concerns about the lack of originality in this type of drama.

I hope so because I am the one that thinks the main CP chemistry is not yielding and while I found Rui Peng visually astonishing in this role he has just about lifted an eyebrow in 8 episodes that I have watched. I have never seen his acting before, but I have the impression that in other roles, like spy period dramas he would shine. He has that kind of demure about it.

Ep 7 Some of the characters in this series are unbearable, how people are coping is beyond me. That turtle guy I just fast-forwarded furiously. This is not for me, I am finding it boring. I have watched so many dramas by Bai Lu and this is not a fresher version of herself, I guess most fans would like to see her doing the same over and over again. Same expressions, same mannerisms, same "jokes", she is a good comedian but something is not yielding for me in the overall presentation. I am glad that I am not the only one with this opinion based on the comments below. The most interesting characters are Chong Zhao and Fu Ling but their development is not coming fast enough.

We need to wait and see what has happened to these two in those years. For once he managed to have a successful career as a vet and on the shallow part he lost weight! Let's not underestimate those big changes. We don't know if he dated other girls but it did not work out. Some k dramas bring that premise. Love Next Door is one of those. I have not read the novel so I don't know if he went out with somebody else. On a connected subject, BLs genre typical premise is that they can wait for years for that person they love in the past. This is what it makes them so romantic and popular. It def a recipe that works with most viewers. obviously you don't enjoy it.

What a visceral reaction! It happens in reality. I know one older man and two older ladies who rekindled their first love romance decades later. The man re encounter his first love when he became a widower in his 50s. One of the ladies re-kindle his first love in his 60s and the other one in her 30s. In two different countries and from three completely different backgrounds. The fact that people change and evolve as the years pass does not mean that they won't like their older selves in the future. They are also the uncountable cases people marrying their first love (is not Ed Sheeran the singer-songwriter one of those?) There are also many cases of those who did not like each other when young but met years later and fell in love later in life.. it is not a first love but a very close match if you ask me.

For those questioning what mixed-race background she has, in the novel it is mentioned one of the parents of the mother was from the US, not more info is given. I cannot wait for ep 2!!!!

I am glad you made this observation about Bai Lu performance. i am a great follower of her work, having watched most of her dramas but there is nothing that move me in her performance here is very so so. I am watching for the secondary leads.

Few minutes into the first episode and we have the sweetest scene of any k drama. I could not think of any better actors to play the leads. This is going to be a total treat!!! Don't miss it

Chang Hua Sen as Zhao is amazing. This young actor is so multilayer his performances are always very moving. I don't know what it takes to be a central ML in China but if it is based on acting qualities he has it all (at the moment he has only reached secondary lead). His CP in this series, Dai Lu Wa, is a very good match for him because the contrasting personalities of their characters are really well portrayed by both of them. They are my favorites and the reason why this series is keeping my interest so far.

I think I have watched too many xianxias!!! and I can recite the lines of some of them! I feel a bit overwhelmed by the initial setting. My Chinese friends who live in China (important) have told me that audiences are a bit bored of the repetitive nature of xianxias/costume dramas. They are always voicing their concerns about it. I like the male and female actors here. Maybe I need to give it a rest and come back later to it as not long ago I finished my 4th rewatching of TTEOTM.
