They say they had an intimacy coordinator, I wonder if the sex scenes are going to be that overt. Because intimacy coordinators normally are called when people have full naked scenes that kind of things. If you watch the Japanese film Egoist they had a intimacy coordinator but the sex scenes were super raw.

On The Legend of Shen Li Apr 14, 2024
This is a total rewarding watching experience. From ep 1 to the end. I don't watch anything by these actors. I did not even know who Ling Gen Xin was, and I dropped the only drama that I intended to watch by ZL Ying (LoFei) on the third episode! LG Xin character is just perfect he floats in front of our screen with peace and coolness and his love for ShenLi (ZLY) is so endearing. ZL Ying looks absolutely beautiful as ShenLi, they have the chemistry to burn the screen. A dream CP really. Strong storylines for women are my favourite and this one is so good. As bonus, we have the love story of ShenLi parents, what beautiful scenes. Lovely performance by Xuan Lu (sister of WWX in The Untamed) and Xu Hai Qiao as his phoenix lover. Another visual couple. So much chemistry and needed to show their passion for each other. Though ep 24 is full of unnecessary flash backs, some characters are obviously fillers and the last episode was not about them (what was the point), it is still a 10 for me and a must-watch!

Why people are rating this so low? 2 episodes and is very impactful. This is a world of "losers" and macho chauvinists which look quite the common thing in Korean society. Woo Young the actor playing the suffering brother delivers a visceral performance. Jae Bin doing the opposite role from that of Choco and Milk is quite a surprise. already giving lots of chemistry vibes as CP. This is not going to be a fireworks K BL but I hope people give it a chance at least.

Unpopular opinion: Not among my fav JBL.Not all bad.A lot of great qualities but again not among my favs. And pls…
Were you watching the same series as the rest of us? Those bed scenes were raw and emotional, superior to most JBL. Deep kisses are not Japanese style except for their adult productions (18+). I suggest K dramas and Thai BLs if you are into kisses that much.

Seriously a 7.6 rating????? with the things on mdl rated so high up while they have no substance is why you can…
MDL ratings are so inaccurate. It is even worse in K Dramas because it is based on the popularity of the leads. If an actor has a huge fan based any rubbish is ridiculously high rated.

This BL deserves a much higher rating. It is one of the few that escape from the BL narrative to step a bit into the LGBTQ+ discourse, at least one of the boys here identifies overtly as gay hanging with gay friends. He wanted to experience his sexuality as a gay man and suffered the consequences for it, as he was only 15 (the age of consent in Japan is 16). In the manga, even the police were involved. So it was a serious plot. Yuki Sakurai and Aloha make a beautiful couple but while Yuki gives his best Aloha feels a bit uncomfortable at moments in his role. The bed scenes are nicely done but Aloha looks awkward in the kissing scenes. Some people were shocked about showing the kids' sex scene. It was a daring choice as even the young actors were only 14 at the time of filming.

This series is a 10 for me, however, we really need to make an effort to understand as an international audience why they separate. Their plan of elopement seems more a representation of their point of view: Senpai wanting to take the relationship to the extreme and his lover using the excuse of the photo to chicken out. This will happen as well as adults: Senpai wanting them to live together, telling the world he loves his partner and his partner not reciprocating. In the end, his partner steps forward tunes with his Senpai, finally showing up for him in this world. On another note, Senpai did not loss by being sent away. He lived a better life and became a great professional, this would not have happened if he had stayed with his young lover, on the other hand, this young lover developed his own personality, he became more lively and stronger as a person.

What bothers me is that they didn't explore much with the gay brother character. He was just there and didn't…
They not only did not explore the gay character but they also misrepresented the gay community. I would say that the "gay character" was central to the drama in as much as it would have not been a "wedding impossible" but as you say that element was scripted in a very cliché and superficial way.

Is this heavy with Christian references, if so I will skip. Watch too many western horror movies like exorcist…
No Christian references! it is about Cupid and is funny, very light hearted

This drama main worth is the amazing performance of Sang Min as Jihan (ML). He gives his all to this role. He makes his multilayer character endearing, likable, in fact, adorable. Watch it for him. Jong Seo as his CP is a great company their interactions are hilarious at moments. On the negative side, there is a gross representation of gay people in this drama. We know homophobia is endemic in Korea and for high-profile people is very difficult to come out, but they are not pariahs either. It is well documented that young gay men have partners during school and even in the military. There is a support LGBTQ+ community in Korea and also a gay scene. It is absurd that this gay character is only going to have one friend who happens to be a straight woman!? Such preposterous idea to start with and then is the fake marriage arrangement, the ex and the way they treat each other etc. It did not help that Kim Do Wan acting skills does not have the nuance to make the character believable in any account so it is very difficult to grasp where he is coming from apart from being a coward. What a shame. On other actor's hands, and despite the script, this character could have been redeemable.

The Mother had two husbands! First Husband- Those two annoying older children. second husband who she loved- Lee…
Many thanks!!! I was confused because I also thought that Do han and Ji Han were half brothers, ok so they are full brother. Another thing that confused me was why Ji Han is blamed from everything while Do Han is kind of pitied.

Why are people saying they broke up? It is not what I understand. They want to take time off, take time to cool down and regroup. Obviously, they love each other dearly. Hence why they still referring as each other in the preview of next ep as "my lover" (I know we also watched Aloha character asking, but the guy is toxic, not as bad as Segata, the wine guy, that is proper evil). Another great performance by our leads! The subtle undertones in their performance that they manage to pull off are amazing.

There will be drama in the next ep and a reconciliation in the last one, I am assuming this as this is the formula…

So grateful for Hangyeom and his tall CP. They have saved this BL for me. A heartfelt performance by Hangyeom, particularly in that scene in the sports field when he is the receiver of homophobic remarks by his CP. Controversially, he has lots of chemistry with him. Jung Ha, the actor portraying his CP, has more acting quality than the main CP actors. Other people have commented on this in this forum. Jin Kwon is the actor who has disappointed me the most. He was alright as a PA in To My Star but his performance here is very pantomime-like (does not help the makeup either). Ho Geun (acting as his CP), has only displayed two facial movements in 8 episodes but I have not failed to notice that he would have been amazing with Sung Tae (from Happy Merry Ending, here the late brother). They really look good together and have lots of chemistry. So this is my "ghost ship" for this series :-)
