On Don't Call It Mystery Nov 4, 2024
I've watched quite a few Japanese dramas, and misogynistic male characters seem to be quite common. If that reflects the reality in Japan, then I feel sorry for all the women unfortunate enough to be born in that country.

It was really fun watching some of these (now) A-list actors who were then at the very start of their acting careers, and understandably, the acting wasn't always brilliant. Overall the drama was enjoyable, but it does show its age. The story kept my attention, but the writing was inconsistent with subplots just forgotten about for numerous episodes before the writers eventually remembered them. Also, there are plot holes big enough to drive a bus through, so it is best to switch your brain off while you watch it. Even though I thought the ending was quite good, overall I'd say the srama was only slightly above average. 8/10.

I'm not gonna lie. Freen's acting ability is kinda still same. Not saying it's bad but I feel like it's average.…
Personally I think Freen's acting in the series is supurb. I think she is a noticably better actor than Becky - even though Becky's acting in this series is also very good.

I am new in GL world , Could someone recommend me slow burn GL series ?
"Blank" has been by far my favourite (and in my opinion best) Thai GL series this year. Just be warned it is an age gap drama which some people don't like, but I loved. I'd describe it as slow burn, because even though the younger woman actively persued the older woman from the very start, the older woman repeatedly pushed her away due at least in part due to their age difference. Anyway, start watching it and see if it's for you. It's on YouTube.

I enjoyed the drama, but I felt it started stronger than it finished.
8/10.

Quite an enjoyable drama. I found the action/suspense episodes much more engaging than the romance (or lack there of) episodes. I really liked the witty banter between Mi Ka and Xing Lei, but they didn't seem to have much chemistry in a romantic sense. They mostly acted like good friends rather than lovers.
A slight complaint I have is I found the whole subplot of Shu Wen Bo repeatedly and consistently rejecting the gorgeous Ruan Qing Xia's advances (even though he was clearly infatuated with her) completely ridiculous, and it was dragged out way longer than necessary.
On a positive note, I thought the acting of both Wang Yang and Zhang Yao to be extraordinary, even thoughh their roles were relatively minor.
If the plot summary interests you, then watch this drama - its really quite good.
My score is 8½.

This drama is so good . My first GL drama and I am not disappointed .
I agree with the suggestions for "Reverse 4 You" and "Affair", but I would add "Blank" as well, which is my all time favourite GL drama.

To those people expressing concern that Son Ye Jin might do nudity in this drama, you can all relax. There is no chance that she will. With one exception (Jeon Do Yeon), no Korean A-list actress has done explicit nudity in a Korean production. Explicit nude scenes are done by new actresses wanting to break into the industry, or struggling actresses who want to boost their career.

i actually liked Tao jun hui with qin shi…
He physically dragged her into the men's toilets. Men who physically drag women into toilets are best avoided in my opinion.

Men are disgusting...Imagine marrying someone who really doesn't want to be with you (only because you are a man…
I feel that your opening sentence needs some qualification.

Did you watch "secret"? The same cast, that was good. I wondering why this one is not though?
No, I haven't watched "Secret", but I might give it a look in the future. Also, I'm not saying "Kill Me Heal Me" is a bad show at all. From what I watched of it, I think it deserves the high MDL score it has. It was just the story didn't gel with me right now. Perhaps I'll revisit it in the future.

The show is cute and fluffy. Turn your brain off when you watch it and just enjoy it for what it is. My one complaint with the show is with the casting. The age between the two actors is 2 years and in addition, the male looks very young for his age. So they definitely do not look like they are the same age, even though they are supposed to be. Having a girl who looks so much older than the boy she is pursuing seems a bit awkward to me.

An enjoyable drama. I tend to agree with those people who thought the last few episodes were a little bit rushed, and this drama would have benefited with an extra couple of episodes. I hope that enough people watched this to convince Netflix that Thai GLs are worth buying or funding, because there is a market for them.
My score is 8/10.

I watched 5 episodes but it didn't really do it for me. Not sure why I didn't much like it, especially with such a high MDL score. Anyway ... on to the next drama.

that’s because the character he’s playing is monotone….
You seem angry.
What YOU are ignoring is that a skilled actor can play a cold, emotionless character without mimicking a cardboard cutout of a person. Unless they are paralysed, there will still be facial expressions and body language. It will be subtle and understated (when playing this sort of character), but it will not be absent. Good actors can do this. Less skilled actors will tend to keep a blank, confused expression on their face the whole time, which is what Yang Yang does for most of this drama.
Go to acting school if you want to figure out why you are wrong. You’d see how the professionals do it and stop arguing just to argue.
One example of an actor playing a cold, emotionless character brilliantly is Song Joong Ki in the drama "The Innocent Man" https://mydramalist.com/4295-the-innocent-man

Quite a good drama - I enjoyed it. Probably more slice of life than Rom Com. If I were to make a criticism, I'd say the episodes were a bit too long. 8.5/10 is my score.

The fact that Korean parents feel entitled to tell their adult children in their 30s who they can date is so very f_cked up. I'm just waiting for the day some bold Kdrama writer is brave enough to have one of their characters tell their parents to mind their own business when they try to control them.
