I have chosen to just drop at this point. The actor or director really made the ML into caricature and its grown tired. I probably would've liked the ML if he had been portrayed like Fan Xian from JOL but the actors comedic timing is just off and as you said, he has no character development and the story is almost done. Honestly, both Amai and Yizhi are on some clown shit that it isn't funny anymore.

Absolutely on all points. She even has great chemistry with CQ to the point we aren't even sure of the nature of their actual relationship - is it romantic or familial because both the actors are doing so well to blur the lines.
On top of that, the editing is choppy and it feels like key parts have been omitted from the final cut which is probably what's driving me nuts. I am sad too. I think this drama suffers from too many unnecessary characters kept around for far too long. It's unrealistic that some people have not died sooner as a result of being in the battlefront like Erdan etc no offence, I do like him lol
The writers are really forcing this chemistry and storyline with Shang Yizhi. It's not working and its coming off mechanic. They are better as brothers at this point.
It's no wonder they changed the title to include "love" it because they wanted to give this lacklustre love story.

Chen Qi is rapidly becoming my fave character right now. The actor is doing a amazing job at portraying this layered relationship with Amai. I want to know why he murders his foster parents but protects her. He clearly cares for her deeply. Maybe he kept her alive so that the Duke's line doesn't die out.
Now I wonder if the Duke and Duchess were killed by the unkept Emperor for political or military power.

That's why I like that she is taking on board his advice but not letting it fully influence her natural instinct. Mr Xu might be brutal but so is war. It's the reality they both need because there will come a time when decisions as such need to be made. I think in this instance, we saw an inkling of her leadership when she dragged them back. This is what will help her gain the trust and admiration from her soldiers which she has fully now. I hope they make her official commander because Lu just passed it onto to her before death, it will only make decision making easier if they acknowledge which hopefully in the next episodes
I hope Reba gets a good rest before shooting her next drama. Idk but these last few years prior to her latest hiatus, I felt like the light had left her eyes a bit. I could see it in her red carpet appearances, photoshoots etc I feel for the pressure she's under with antis, media, agency which is immense, especially from the government who have painted her to be the poster child for Uyghur both nationally and internationally. We can all see it. All that gets heavy and with the peak international intrigue, it's only going to amp up. It's no wonder she is guarded with her time and private life. There's only so much she can have to herself that the world hasn't already stripped from her.
