I'm reading several comments on Reba's acting and Changge's lack of reactions/emotions. I think people here are…
I feel you! People associate acting as purely an explosion of emotions, but fail to realise that acting is also one's ability to restrain it especially in scenes where it calls for it. One being the scene between Luyan and Changge, where she is holding onto her dearly, trying to convince her that she never wanted to be Princess and to return home. Changge remains stoic with only a hint of an emotional trigger. It pains her that the path they must walk is different now, and even in her moment of anger, she realises this.
People nitpick but have no valid reasoning because their approach to towards the situation derives from a very narrow place of acknowledgment.
The thing about all these OSTs, it is often very difficult for us to separate them from the dramas. Cocoon is…
Agreed. But for me, those songs are great on their own even if they were created specifically for those dramas. I'm a visual person so when I hear those songs, I am completely taken into another space, that's free from its attachment to those dramas. I guess because some time has passed since I saw Bloody Romance and Scarlet Heart: Ryeo, so the scenes are no longer fresh but rather hints in my mind. It helps to make me appreciate the songs on its own merit. The composition, voice, instrumentals, rhyme/melody and pitch are incredible.
An OST really makes or breaks a series. Cocoon is stunning to the ears even even if you don't associate it to TLB. The piano starts off soft, then Zhou Shen's voice comes in softer, suddenly the pitch and rhyme/melody get higher and intensifies. It completely overwhelms me. The only other times I felt that effect was when I heard A Lifetime Waiting for You by Tia Ray for Bloody Romance and My Love by Lee Hi for Scarlet Heart: Ryeo.
For years, they've been taking the initiative and raising funds for causes she's donated to in the past. That's one of the reasons I became a fan of hers was because her fans are a true reflection of her!
Here's a video of her trip in Greece ... i think it is Grandma Catherine. She gave Dilraba a 100 year old ring…
She has such a sweet soul. Some people, there whole entire aura just envelopes a room. Honestly, she's one of those people that if you meet once, you remember her for a lifetime.
Does she just raise funds for these causes? Does she also contribute her own money to these causes? Or engage…
I believe she was gearing up for a Western debut but COVID halted her plans so hopefully its in the works. I read she does a lot of donating as well as raising funds but she doesn't announce it. Which I find admirable. Actually, she speaks clear, fluid English and converses very well. She is on her way, I have no doubt about that. She did a series where she travelled alone and for much of the trip when she was in Greece, she had a hint of an American accent which audiences found quite cute. Since Fan Bingbing has been absent and trying to rebuild her career, Dilraba absolutely has potential to fill that missing gap in the market. She is already considered a fashion icon so its just about making the right career and business moves.

Alices do this every year. And yes, Dilreba is directly involved in a lot of these causes. Not long ago she was involved in a docu creating awareness for climate change. One of her sponsors Kronenberg 1664 booked out Chongqing Guanyin Bridge which is the largest screen in Asia to celebrate her birthday.
Just wanted to share with everyone how thoughtful Alices are. They are following in her footsteps and raising money for outstanding causes such as International Women's fund, UNICEF, education assistance for schools, World Wide fund for Nature and assistance for hearing impaired children in her name to celebrate her birthday.
And don't even get me started on the LED billboards with her face on some of the busiest streets.
You are very well informed concerning what goes on with those two in China. Amazing!
The difference here is that Yang Mi is partial owner along with her management. She is getting regular scripts and has proper promotion built around her. No matter how crap the script is, her star power and that of her co-star helps to pull it in which I have to say, she has starred along some popular actors lately.
Agreed that her scripts are not the best and that's because her earlier work and the way she was managed, always focused on her taking roles that first centred on the character being this other worldly beauty. She has built her career around playing these characters so it might be hard for her to pull away from that because audiences expect it.
Zhao Liying is not much better as she had played always cutesy roles. But the Story of Minglan really has proven to be the turning point in her career. I've noticed that actors tend to be their best when they play villians because Liying was great in Palace. I would love for Dilraba to play a villain. I hope she leaves Jaywalk soon. Their style of management sucks and really disadvantages actor growth.
