She's not foolish, she's grieving and trying to adapt to a situation that quickly escalated. If he doesn't tell her the circumstances, how is she to act? She is acting based on the information available to her. Don't forget he went to find her in order to use her to keep her father at bay while her father is trying to rule through her children since the Emperor's predicted to die early.
