Honestly, I don't understand why they couldn't cast an actress with an authentic cultural connection. Li Landi is undeniably talented, but changing the story to give it a more "Han" aesthetic feels off. Yes, I know Landi is Hui but they even changed the name of the lead, but the core of this story lies in Uyghur culture and identity, that's what makes it significant. The story now risks diluting that cultural richness and comes across as dismissive of the very community the story is meant to represent as per OG novel.
Slightly devastated because we wanted her to do this one and I see it has 24 episodes.
