I like your take on this. As for me, I don’t find them particularly annoying. They are needed for our couple to grow and evolve and their challenges to get along and make effective social connections. And that's so important if they want to become powerful in future. I still don't get why others say ML is weak. I don't see weakness. He's all determination, hardwork, and loyalty. Maybe people feel he's weak because he's not some typical ML who can "off" opponents with a flick of his hand. This ML is more realistic to be honest. He doesn't go head on when he has fewer people and the opponent has clearly more. And that's some survival instinct and common sense.
