This was so good! I don’t know why this took 6 years to get released... The acting was outstanding in this! And I like the plot so much specially the plot twist at the end. I can't forget the ending. Made me emotional and I wept bitterly at the end...

Yes. I liked the novel so much. The only complain I have is that Zhao Ling's achievements were from Fu Tingyun's pov and mostly "off screen". I hope the drama adaptation will make up for it 🫠💕

According to novel they're a power couple. Both smart and good at decisions. They're affectionate and caring toward each other and support each other. ML here is a green forest.
Although it's an open ending, the emotional roller coaster, the bond between the three main characters, and their acting made this so worthwhile. I watched it mainly because it was from Daomubiji universe and I knew the writer can write great characters with great emotional bonds and I'm a fan of the actors so I watched it while it aired. Probably the best series of this year for me regarding the emotional side of the story.

The story is mostly about the FL in the novel and the injustice she endured and inflicted upon by her own family. She's clever and quick witted and even better than ML at playing chess. ML has growth too but all ML's story happens "off screen". I've read 2/3 of it. The first 1/3 is about them surviving... they fell in love in that part. Of course they support each other. They're in love and married with children. ^^
Guys, does this have a “married first, fell in love later” trope? i’m interested in watching it!
In the novel, they fall in love then get married and have children. It's like a slice of life of a married couple. The girl is a clever indoor noble woman and the boy is someone in the military and getting promotions thoughout his career. But his story is off screen in the second half of the book. I hope in the drama adaptation we can get more otherwise this will become another female centeric plot.
