Earth was so convincing in his role that i am surprised to know he was only 29 when filming this drama, He played…
They did not have to make him this old, though. His sister could be simply noticeably older than him, so he could be 29 and be an uncle to Fourth just fine.

This would not work only if the scenario was that he had an adult son or daughter.

Review Vice Versa
I just watched Never Let Me Go (2022) series, and it was incredibly stupid in nearly every of its plot events, but at least the plot events were happening.

But here, it seems, nothing is happening, not even silly things, just vibes, as you point out.

I doubt I will be able to survive this, even though the BL is about the lads, not about scripts.

Review Never Let Me Go Spoiler
Pond is playing much better than in the first series where he, being wooden, and Phu were a couple.

The initial setting was so obvious that I have immediately suspected that something will have to happen to the lad’s parents. I wish it was not made this predictably.

Is the security of the super rich so useless? Just one middle aged guy who has left his boss without protection? Not believable. Also, the whole death scene is so cartoonishly cliche.

The whole drama over Pond’s character being “secretly” sent to guard Phu’s came out of thin air. This being made in a secret is absurd as it is the most rational thing to do that Phu’s character should be understanding, he is not a capricious ten year old any more, and accept as an order to accommodate to.

And it is silly he sees this as some “trust” issue. The same as back in the day taxi drivers have got offended if you were to use seat belts as it was a sign that you are not trusting them.

Also, there is no way Pond’s fisherman character would be the only one assigned to the job. First and foremost, professionals would have been hired.

It is not believable that Phu’s character is still in need of friends at the age of 18. A good-looking and rich character would certainly have lots of friends, if he would need them as the character states. Of course, most of them would have been fake, but come would have been honest people who would have genuinely liked the lad as a friend.

The only scenario where it would have been believable if Phu’s character was a horrible and disgusting sleaze-bag, a sociopath with zero self awareness, so he would not have friends but still somehow would think he needs them without understanding why he does not have them. But this is not the character from the series.

And it is not believable that a lad from a rich family, knowing how to be around bodyguards from childhood, behaves as he sees a bodyguard for the first time and all of the sudden asks one to be his friend.

There are usually no formal dress code for teachers in universities of Thailand, but it is not believable that in a high profile institution a teacher would appear in a table cloth print shirt that is meant for plumbers or mechanics as it better covers dirt and sweat they get during their shifts.

If a finger is cut off, there would have been way more blood than shown. Also, it would not have been made with so many witnesses and a boss present. Finally, for a long while by now even casinos that are run criminally have refused to continue the old butchery practices of yore. They install fear without it.

Those who rob street peddlers are not as hardcore criminals to engage in fights with knifes against people who come to aid their victims, the risks are not worth it, so it is not believable.

Who is Pond character’s father, really? Experienced security personnel do not get frightened with an opened mouth because a motorcycle has tried to block his car.

The dynamics in this university makes no sense. It is supposed to be an elite institution so there should be plenty of rich people, so it is not believable that this one lad is getting bullied.

No, the method of thinking of a person whom you love or hate does not work for improving the accuracy of shooting. You better not think of anything but calmly aiming, taking the angle, the distance and the wind into account.

Vandalising a locker or stealing from it is a crime, and all universities by now have a camera directed at it, so it is not possible to do it clandestinely, so it is not believable that this is a mystery in the series

Stools do not fall apart when you him people with them. But actor Pawin has played the bully Phil well, he is more believable here than in his lead role a lover previously.

It is not believable that Pond’s character can not buy a new pair of shoes for sport. His father has been getting a good wage for decades at the estate of Phu’s character, but even on his own fishermen in Thailand are not as remotely as poor as long as they go out to see and get their fish. And the lad has moved to Bangkok already a while ago, and there is getting a very good salary as a bodyguard for a famously rich family.

This series has too many rich family heirs who all of the sudden do not want to carry on the business. Even a single case of that is very rare, but three at once is not believable. Their whole existence from childhood about formed about continues the legacy and the success of their fathers or mothers. And taking over their companies is a highly lucrative and prestigious position to have to a degree that there are inner fights within families if they have more than one heir.

WHAT? Phu’s character is allergic to alcohol to a point to having breathing issues? Why would he drink at all then? Why his bodyguard does not know this and does not have an inhaler with him?

WHAT? This time even three bodyguards were useless? Just how bad can they be? Not quite believable.

Pond’s character says he will never leave Phu’s, but this is a lie. He will die someday. Or either of them will stop loving him fall in love with someone else.

It makes no sense that the lads have fled to obscurity, and not to police. Thailand is not Libya after the bombings by Obama and NATO.

Phu’s character saying he does not want to eat means his neural system is on the edge after getting to this extreme stress mode, but then he is shown all of the sudden sleeping. If he has started to calm down, he first has to eat, not sleep.

Another thing that makes no sense is that that they travel Mike for twenty hours but still do not know anything about the state of Phu character’s mother, which would have been in the news.

WHAT? Pond’s character days his father will investigate and find the culprit who has ordered the assassination attempt on the lady? He did not care to do this when the rich guy was killed, but he all of the sudden care now?

By this point the events indicates that Pond’s father has colluded with the criminals. This amount of negligence does not have any other rational theory behind it.

Also, where is the police? Besides, if the guy was killed on the order of his brother, then it makes no sense because the killer did not care to kill his wife and son who were right there. And he has the time to pose theatrically before he was shot himself.

It is not believable that Phu’s character was behave like he is shown just hours after his mother was possibly killed and still not knowing her condition. The writing is bad.

Pond’s character said his mother is always fleeing from place to place but it has turned out that she is running an inn, which is the opposite to the supposed lifestyle.

To counteract excessive spiciness of food, you drink milk, not water, which does not work for this.

They gave Phu a cheap plastic pistol prop, so he is handling like a toy, not as a heavy weapon it is supposed to feel like on the screen.

100 baht a day? That is too low to be realistic. It should be 300 at least.

Turn’s out Phu character’s rich father has randomly decided to help a drunkard whom he did not know in a hospital. This not how the rich behave, and he would not even set a foot into a clinic for the plebs in the first place.

Also, the real story of Pond’s baby character needing emergency care for a life threatening incident would have been him simply dying because the father is drunk. But we see some double fantasy version. Or, rather, a triple one because the rich man has hired that random drunkard even.

And it also not believable that Pond’s character has never asked why his father works where he works.

The whole incentive for the uncle to kill his brother and his family would only work if they have had the perfect relationships so his name would have been in the brother’s will right after his immediate family members.

But if he en enemy to the brother’s widow then it would not work any more because in her will his name will not be mentioned among the inheritors of any company shares and other assets.

WHAT? The evil bully whose family went bankrupt is paying money to someone for doing evil in open daylight for everyone to see and film? The scriptwriters are doubly bad here.

WHAT? Random foreign tourists have decided to have a sudden wedding on a Thai island, even though same marriages were not legal and their families and friends would not be able to participate?

That is not how a person trying to force the killers to speak acts, and this is not how the police acts when it arrests someone. Super silly.

Before asking for a boyfriend status, Phu’s character would have intimate fun to find out if it can fundamentally workout or not. Doing it backwards is nonsensical, so it is not believable.

Why Pond’s character allowed himself to be photographed in his secret place?

Why the gangsters would want to take the lass’ camera, even though she did not photograph any of them or anything of note in the neighbourhood?

Why Pond’s character has turned his back to the gangsters? Is he insane?

Gangsters do not wear black shirts on tropical islands, they blend with everyone else, at least higher-ups.

It was really stupid that Phu’s character did not retrieve the money from the bank right away in Bangkok before fleeing, though the fleeing itself was stupid.

WHAT? Turns out Pond’s character mother is an internationally known tattoo artist. Even regionally, not even state wide known artists earn very well, so it makes no sense that she has to run a shackle style inn and run away from creditors.

WHAT? It has only took the villains five minutes to check the beaches and villas there?

Another stupid gun fight. Pond character’s mother shoots one of the killers but instead of shooting the second one she turns away her head to talk to the lads. So she was suicidal and wanted to die, apparently.

Then Pond also is acting stupid because he shoots that killer and runs to his mother without making sure that the killers are disabled.

Come on. After Pond’ character was seeing people shot left and right for a while hall of the sudden goes crazy over a woman he knew for a couple of weeks?

And here goes Thai propaganda of alcoholism as they hammer into every viewers head that you have to poison yourself with addictive alcohol if you are sad.

Another stupid plot move: getting a sleeping pill to escape, even though there was no need for that at all. Just go away when Pond’s character is sleeping, especially when drunk.

Also, breaking up is stupid. Just split apart for a while is enough. Useless drama made out of thin air.

What is the point of the genius plan to just go back as if nothing has happened and now you are all of the sudden safe and immune to ambush killer attacks, and do nothing to fight back or expose the villain?

But WOW, the lad had a bright idea to hire proper bodyguards, though not before half of his family was killed.

What is with this idiotic move by the villain to force Pond’s character to kill his lover or his mother? The villain was arranging assassinations on his own just fine before that.

WAIT, how Pond’s character was all of the sudden was able to enter a high profile clinic for the rich to a room with a super rich patient that should have guards?

WOW, the personal bodyguard has turned out to useless once again, so the mai lad was kidnapped.

There is no way to sign away your shares while being kidnapped. This requires a major setup of multiple lawyers and notary.

If this would work then the evil uncle would have kidnapped his brother in the first place.

WHY did the director force Phu’s character to violently shake shot Pond’s character? Not only this kills wounded people much faster, but it also imprints clueless viewers to behave this harmfully in their real lives.

Pond’s character refusing the compensation for his traumas is incredibly silly.

Now Pond’s character wanted to break up for no reason is even stupider than Phu’s character prior attempt.

AN INCREDIBLY stupid script in nearly every of its plot moves.

But the actors save it, as well as overall production values besides the scriptwriting. Also, it is not boring, which is a major plus. it is much better to have silly stuff happening than nothing happening at all as in many other series.

So all in all it is worth to watch because the BL genre is not about scripts that make sense, it is about the lads, and those are great here. And Pond has played well after being wooden in his first due with Phu (Fish Upon The Sky, 2021).

But I do wish the series would not contain any tragic events at all. Because it all is so silly that the series would look much better as a self aware farce.

The first episode is discouraging. So much is cliche, and the writing is really silly.

However, if you like the lads, you can survive it by “suspending disbelief” trick, which you would need to do, it seems, a lot while watching the series.

If only the scriptwriters cared to not be lazy and rewrite, replace the stupid parts with something more believable. Then it would have been much easier to watch even for those of us who can not switch their brains off and enjoy it as effortlessly as some others can.

Pond is playing much better than in the first series where he, being wooden, and Phu were a couple.

It is good they started with a couple of lads having fun. But if we take it as cliche done by other series, it would mean that for the rest of the series the lads would all of the sudden pretend that they are some prude eunuchs that do not want intimacy and afraid of it until the very end of the series. Let’s see if I will be wrong about this nonsensical story path or not.

Another plot point that makes no sense is that Mix’ character is heavily intoxicated but all of the sudden wants to have intimate fun. Which is not believable at all because there is a very narrow effect window when it enables this behaviour, rather than suppresses it. Alcohol is not a stimulator, but a depressant, so nothing can really happen after you step out of that window.

It is not believable that a family of the lad who is in a dispute over the damage would agree to hire a lad who is the other participant the dispute.

Even though abortions are relatively way less popular in Thailand versus e.g. the USA, still about a couple of hundred of those are carried yearly, and the story shown in the series is one of the prime candidates for the procedure, so the story is not quite believable.

And old area closing for renovation is not a drama, just a hassle. Lots of small businesses are closed and reopened in other places yearly even without demolitions simply because of the market changes or convenience.

They again at it with the silly “love knows no gender” mantra, even though it is most radically does. For overwhelming majority of people, it only ever possible to live the opposite gender because this is how their brains wired, and for a small minority, it is the same sex, and for even smaller minority, it could be both sexes.

Not sure what could possible the issue between Earth and Mix characters in regards to this, becuase Mix’ is not the one deciding anything about the demolition project.

Fourth’ character wanting to be a bartender is not believable because it is not a job you do until you are old. Even if you really like it, then it still goes until you are circa forty max, so people plan for other job to do from the very beginning.

The horrible trend of Thai BL advertising alcoholism among youth continues.

3000 baht, circa $100, a day abroad? If by that they mean some “first world” country, then those money will almost entirely go to rent, communal payments, and social security/medical insurance payments. Nearly nothing is left to actually “earn”.

Some of the writing is ridiculous. Namely, when Mix’ character says that him and Earth’s character having fun first before love is step 10, which in reality is almost always step 1 because before you can decide with your want a relationship you need to understand if you are physically compatible. Becoming lovers is purely optional after having fun, not before it.

Smearing sticky cakes onto friends’ faces is one of the worst harmless things you can do, never do that.

It is not believable that the main couple just all of the sudden stopped having fun after the first time if they did not find each other repulsive in some way.

It is not up to a bank clerk, even a manager, to decide if someone would get a lone without a collateral, or not. It is simply impossible, and it is by regulations.

Lots of cheap and good enough hotels in Bangkok, so if a friend does not allow a sleepover, no issue to rent a room for a night.

Love is by definition is irrational, and it is biologically proven to be that as it comes from deeper, way more ancient layers of the brain that are tied to emotions and can not process anything logical.

So all the talks like “What does he have that I do not have” are fundamentally ignorant and useless. Any attempt to answer that are contradicts where people are trying to rationalise the irrational.

Not only do Thai series promote alcoholism, but also tobacco smoking addiction; disgusting.

Indeed, it if fully legal for deaf people to drive in Thailand, and it makes no sense that the mother did not know this. And it is not believable that the mother did not know the sign language.

Turns out the deaf lad has only been deaf for the last three years, and normally this time is more than enough to recover speech. Though in this case the details are not known so maybe there was brain damage to the speech part, too.

The Mix’ character’s former boyfriend earns enough to hire a helper to aid him with his temporarily disability, so there no need at all for them to be together, so this move does not make much sense.

Another alcoholism propaganda plot point, calling the youth to drink beer, which is horrible for your health.

This series has the most detailed depiction of classic Thai funeral procession I have seen in any series, which is culturally important for viewers of other cultures.

It is good that Gemini was trained to speak a couple of words he does say in the series in a believable way because deaf people can not hear themselves, so it very hard to speak without this audio feedback loop.

2023 was a year of two prominent BL series that have shown disability: this one and Last Twilight, with the former being much better developed in terms of scenario and believability, though the latter also having its strong points in some other aspects.

EARTH PLAYING a character that is meant to be like 40 is not believable. Not because of the performance, it is…

Not because of the performance, it is a 100% believable, but simply because he is way too young.

Any BL series that is not about high school or university already gets bonus points. Even when one of the characters is still in a high school, it is not shown, but his life outside school is depicted, which is great.

Unheard of in BL that they show a former couple, and unique thst they even shown verbal fights between them, as well as cover some other real life circumstances.

It is also important that the series raises human rights issues, which is rare for such a vapid format as BL.

All in all, this is more like a real drama, instead, which is commendable. Especially for GMMTV, which almost never does things like this.

Why is this a "warning?"
The same goes for some other projects, even the biggest Chinese series ever, The Untamed. Those are now not as easy to avoid because the BL industry is so big. But lots of censored works, so unsuspecting viewers might not even notice.

MASSIVELY inaccurate on many historical setting details and plot events, and yet surely deserves to be watched…
GREAT that the series shows the danger of alcoholism, including a rape attempt and death from drunk driving.

However, the series also spreads a dangerous superstition that death is not the end, that there is something else, a new life is awaiting you after this. In reality, there is no evidence of that at all, so you better hold on to your current and the only life as tight as you can here and right now.

Back in the day black stripes on white meant a prisoner uniform, so the lad would have been perceived as a sort of fugitive.

If it was a real time travel, the lad would have died of infections and diseases quite quickly because the immunity people have nowadays is dramatically weaker than what people had in the past.

Frogs are just a more tender chicken in taste, but brains and rotten meat are not great.

WHAT? Joe has jumped into a river fully clothed? It makes no sense.

Employer always apologises for his employees in case of trouble, so it is not believable that Jom’s future lover did not do it.

Master couple do not arguing between each other in front of their servants.

Of course, the very premise is fantasy in the first place, but mass reuse of actors in both timelines somehow still tampers with believability more than necessary.

Jom has said the truth about the affair he has witnessed, which was a just thing to do, but his motivation was shallow and petty, unjust: he was bitter that the lovers were clones of his contemporary time former boyfriend and his lover.

Jom wandering around at nights is not believable. Servants and the poor were so exploited at the time that they had no strength left to do this. They also did not have insomnia issues due to being dead tired from physical labour. And there is no chance Jom would not want to eat as working people were feeling hunger very sharply, regardless of any drama that was happening around.

It makes no sense for Jom to hide that he knows English and is an architect. He would have started living much better than taking care of pigs.

The poor in Thailand at the time (which was almost everybody) did not have money for razors or go to barbers, so they were not clean shaved as seen in be series, but rather had their beard/moustache are plucked with tweezers, what would result either with the looks of contemporary Thai star actors or singer who use lase/wax epilation on their, or with short thin hair growing out until their next plucking.

Their teeth were not that great and plentiful on average.

The hair was also different. Both males and females wore short hair (for the rich it was longer hair for females, but it was tucked up to look short), and the forehead was clear. Most of the time the hair was combed/prepped up, if possible.

It is not clear why the evil man’s second wife was feisty about having sex with her husband. It is a mundane obligation for a woman in her status. It is the part of the deal for which she has sacrificed her true love. In reality, she would be a willing partner just fine to keep the money flowing to her and her family. It is ahistorical to bring the psychology of a 21st century woman a hundred years back.

The average age of marrying for females at the time was about 18, but Ming’s love interest Mei is played by an actress who was 27 at the time of the filming, and it is too visible, does not work too well. By that age it would have been scandalous that she was still unmarried, but this is not shown in the series.

No one collects fallen leafs with a broom, there are racks for that.

After a punishment execution at that time, you would not look just as if a make up artist has smeared a bit of lipstick onto your face. And it would not be carried out with a tiny reed as shown. And you would not be running or even walking for weeks after this. So this aspect is not believable at all.

A poor woman’s mother dying at the time is not a cause to wildly break the rules to flee and see her. And no mother would risk her daughter’s wellbeing just to see her for the last time because she understands what it actually means, she would have been vehemently against and angry at her daughter as she is ruining the hard work that the mother has put into her during her life. It is nothing like what happens today. So this plot move is not believable.

The Christmas party attires have a major mistake since the main lad and some others have appeared there with unbuttoned collar, which is absolute nonsense both for masters and servants no matter if it is a mandarin or western style of attire.

Also, major-domos are meant to wear a formal uniform of the house, not some random clothes his master had bought to him. And they would never sit on the same table at a party as equals even if they were crazy lovers secretly. The scenario is not believable at all.

Fake Santa Claus beats were not made of plastic back then, so they were greyish or yellowish.

The main lad is accepting water from a common person to drink is not believable at all because he knows that people were not boiling it still at the time. As mentioned above, he would have quickly died in that time anyway, but even sooner with such water.

The plot move that the main lad is the one more meek and hesitant to confess his love is dubious becuase he is noticeably older and have rich love life experience in an open society, unlike his his love prospect from the past. So it would have made more sense, if the direction was opposite.

The second prospect, James, is so cute that I almost wish the main lad would not be so monogamous and would pleasure both love pursuers. But, of course, BL scenarists are too cowardly to do that because the goal is always to create marketable fixes BL pairs.

Even if for the monogamous story the main lad is written as a lass because in reality those two lads would have started to have fun with each other much sooner due to the crazy drive for it that males have.

So is quite annoying that the main lad is pretending to be hard to get virgin. In reality, as a male, he wants intimacy about as much as his lover. Zero chance they would be just hugging during nights.

That is rare that they the viewers also a GL pair, and that there are no like three BL pair, only one.

The brothel story does not make much sense because pumps are very protective of their property, prostitutes, so they are not allowing clients to hurt them. It was the same back in the day. What would have been more probably is that someone would just abuse her this way when she was not a brother property but rather a street prostitute.

It makes no sense that maid entering the room of her lady is somehow a scandal. They did at any time of day and night, if necessary.

The BL couple relationship is ridiculous. Even after they have confessed to each other and become lovers, still nothing is happening between them and the main lad is pretending to be shocked when his lover asked him to rub oil into his skin.

The only explanation is that he has become castrated one way or another. Otherwise, his behaviour is completely beyond anything similar to how males work.

This might have been understandable if the could was thirteen or something, even though still barely.

Instead of the story being super slow, it might have been better if the couple would return together to the future to explore all the fun things there.

The jealousy scene at the ball party does not make much sense because both in the BL couple know that the lad from the past has to marry, it is incentive at the time and its society, so they both would have been prepared for that and just ignore it, continuing their secret love. And especially they would allow themselves a public scene at the party.

People are not just collapsing really at any place after been in the rain and getting ill. They start feel unwell gradually, so they get to stool or to bed before they can become too weak to walks. So the series has sloppily shown a different, much more severe illness.

The usual route for the situation in question to develop back in the day was just to marry a woman of prestige and make several babies with her, it is a must, all while keeping your true gay love on the side for as many years as possible in secret. The father would prefer that the latter would stop altogether, but it uncontainable and unavoidable, then so be it, unlike the marriage and children, which are absolutely obligatory.

So it is not believable that the lad from the past would have been surprised and even thought about the arranged marriage. Even more so: it was drilled into his mind since childhood that he has to have a wife and children, so he himself would not even question that regardless of his gayness. He would understand how crucial it is for everything in life of the time.

The lad from the future also could only ever expect this, so him being surprised in not believable, either. So the event in the series is way more dramatic than it could have been realistically.

MASSIVELY inaccurate on many historical setting details and plot events, and yet surely deserves to be watched because it is a rare setting for a BL, indeed.

However, not the uncut, but regular version where the storytelling is tighter, not dragged. I normally would suggest the opposite for series where its uncut version adds lots of fanservice with more play between the characters, but here it is not that at all.

TURNS out that every time the BL genre is trying to go with organised crime or even intricate plot lines in general,…
There are novels where authors care to do research before writing on the topic. This one, however, is fully detached from reality in nearly every aspect of the setting. But I do praise it for the BL aspect, so I rated it highly.

Thank you for this comment. Now I can skip this series
I am so wrong but you could not point to even a single thing I am wrong about.

Also, I did not discourage people from watching the series. As I mentioned, it is great in the key aspect of BL, unlike some others. My point was to just warn inexperienced viewers to not think that this series is even remotely describing anything similar to how real life organised crime or security services work.

SO MUCH was wrong with it even before episode 9, but the actors are cute and it was not boring, so I gave it a positive rating 7.5/10 anyway.
