I am wondering the same thing. Real life is already complicated, everyone has their own issues big or small, I’m not keen to watch something depressing or convoluted. I want to watch something happy like this show to take my mind off.

She wasn’t like that in novel, Yuke couldn’t have baby for years so concubine Wu was presented as breeding cow, but she lost the baby at later stage of pregnancy. She looked up to Tingyun, not a family breaker. Later on she managed to leave Yu family and remarried a carpenter. The drama is not the same, making me anxious.

This is your choice, everyone is entitles to their own preferences. If you don’t mind, I suggest to try to watch more eps, however, I also find some torturing / nasty scenes (esp on the leads) very stressful, thus I fast forward whatever scenes I dislike and watch scenes that I like.
