Sorry, not buying it. There are BL dramas everywhere else in Asia, only difference is the type of regime. Even when they get past censorship, they are still afraid to air, afraid for their actors. This kind of fear is the sign of a brutal regime.

I don't necessarily want every drama to be a romance, but I love the ones where it's not the main course but an added ingredient, kind of like good seasoning in cooking. If done properly, it can enrich any drama.

Look, it all depends how sensitive you are to undercurrents. Officially nothing happens between them, there are no kisses or romantic declarations of love. But underneath the bromance is a lot of longing, the eyes say it all. I guess you could see what you want to see and ignore what you don't.

Either way, something is going on there. We know there are new leaks, so SOMEONE is trying to do SOMETHING. We just don't know who it is or what the outcome will be. But there is definitely some movement there, especially when you look at the whole Chinese BL world and what happened with The Spirealm or the Chines novels being adapted in Taiwan. I hope it will be enough to change things. 🙏
