I think the « smart female lead » tag is misleading here. « Strong female lead » is more apt as she is very strong while still being vulnerable. It makes her more human IMO. I could not connect with the FL of SOM as I didn’t feel her character was realistic (and the drama was boring to me personally) so I can see why you wouldn’t like this FL is you compare both. The ML is so exceptionally smart that he really makes everyone else come across as dumb. But I think this drama is more focused on showing the human and dark sides of human nature and karma. As well as the characters’ growth.

The cast was absolutely stellar. Not a single boring character or bad acting.

Did you miss the part where she stabbed him and he literally thinks she tried to kill him and is responsible for destroying his whole kingdom? How delusional are YOU? The ML must coddle a woman even when he believes he was wronged? If I was in his shoes I would have killed her long ago. He clearly can tell that something went wrong in the past hence why he has now stopped being violent towards her.

They are actors who get paid to act so their relationship should not affect their work. He was exactly like this during Princess agents and they were not super close then. She is making an effort, he isn’t.

I agree with you about the ML. I honestly don’t get how he’s getting all these big roles (and I find him handsome so looks are irrelevant to me). But watching because I like the FL character and acting.

I like melodrama and romance - my favourite combination. But I don't like how they've imbedded the comedy elements in this drama though - it makes some scenes cringey (like how they introduced Vincenzo too). Just doesn't seem to fit with the overall feel of the episode and the epilogues.

Ok but I said "for me" so it's obviously my opinion. Some will love it, others won't.

The end of episode 8 is ridiculous. It ruined the whole drama of the episode to me. I wish the writers would pick either melodrama or comedy. The way they are combining both doesn't work to me.

Yes it’s clear she won’t forgive him. I just think there’s more to the story than we see now and the way the heavenly realm has behaved so far has been shocking. Could have potentially been prevented if they had sent troops. It feels that they are purposely trying to sabotage her. I also wonder what secret her mentor is hiding.

Well, at this stage I don’t have his side of the story. Don’t know his reasons and who did what. It seems that no party is 100% innocent and transparent. And the gods who are supposed to lead by example are a bunch of lazy, childish bullies who get away with poisoning the FL. And her mentor seems suspicious too. What I know is that he’s remained loyal to her and has been protecting her despite their differences so as a lover he is better than the ML. Let’s see how it progresses.

I'm honestly really upset about how useless the ML is. The nonchalant attidue was cute for 3 episodes but it's not fun anymore. I don't care about feelings but your realm has been attacked and you know she was going to seek revenge but you didn't think of devising a strategy to find the culprits?? He knew she would fight them so why was he leisurely living his best life! And people hating on Mofang but supporting the ML are worst - at least he did his best to protect her. And he did more to help her all these years than the ML ever did. Like him always letting her fight alone while sipping tea or playing chess doesn't irk anyone? She keeps on getting hurt because he doesn't help and then he ends up frustrated and overprotective when she is actually hurt. I've lost all respect for the ML. I wish she would end up with Mofang.

I actually felt the opposite. How would you expect him to act - he is ashamed and torn so being speechless was quite relevant. I was more surprised by the FL's lack of shock and emotion when he appeared - she was emotionless. I would have been floored if I were her.
