On episode 6 and already annoyed with the things you mentioned - extremely repetitive, overly exaggerated / cringe dialogue and actions from ML going one way or the other, not so exciting tropes (I'm a fan of tropes but they gotta be done better), etc... Was hoping it would get better and thought I might try to finish it later but after your review I'm gonna just drop it (thank you for saving me the time lol). Bummer because I actually like both actors and was super excited for this drama, but the relationship is soooo toxic I just can't continue.
I'm not an Arab and I thought it was offensive. It's an immediate red flag and the height of casting laziness when you cast someone to play an exaggerated stereotypical character of a certain race that they themselves don't belong to (in this case, Anupam Tripathi who is Indian is playing an Arab), especially when you're portraying the character in mainly a bad way. Let's say in a Hollywood movie a white actor is cast to play an exaggerated stereotypical Chinese person - Bob Smith's character is Mr. Ching Chong Dong, they wear traditional Chinese clothes, talk with a fake heavy accent and squint their eyes, go around doing all the rude things people gossip about or heard once in the news as a representative of China. The producers say "Hey it's just a joke man, Mr. Ching Chong Dong isn't a real person! He's fictional, so stop crying! We all thought it was hilarious, all you Chinese people are snowflakes!" People would be furious, and rightly so I'd say. It would be the same if it was a Japanese person portraying a Korean person in a really bad way. It would be the same if it was a British person portraying a Mexican person in a really bad way. If you have an international audience, of course people are going to be offended. It's not as bad when the actor is at least the actual race/ethnicity of the person they are playing - lots of Asian comedians like to make fun of their culture and no one gets offended because they themselves chose to say it and it's more like they are making fun of themselves. Anyway, I like the show but I do think this episode was problematic for obvious reasons.
It's been a while since I have been so into a drama that I feel so sad after it's finished like, now what do I watch?! There's nothing else as good! T-T
Awesome. It's so nice to see "idols" have relationships and some aspects of "normal" life. Everyone needs to have friends and family, to love and be loved, etc. It doesn't matter if it was or wasn't planned perfectly or whatever happens in the end, they should have their chance just like anyone else. Congrats~
OMG I just realized Jin Young is younger Yoo Ji Tae! daeeeebak I was already sold but now it's even better XD I don't think I can wait every week.... must resist starting it until more episodes are out ><....
I know right?! Glad I'm not the only one. I was almost finished with The Secret Life of My Secretary, was loving…
It is clear we have very different opinions regarding the underlying issues. To answer your question directly, no, I don't think it is shameful for someone to wear skinny jeans. I don't care if a skinny person, an average weight person, or a "fat" person is wearing them, they are JEANS. Would you prefer them to wear shorts? Cargo pants? Jeggings? Sweatpants perhaps? What style and material is appropriate? What color is acceptable to you? Can you make a list of acceptable clothing styles for "fat" people so that you aren't offended by their "flaunting sloth"? How about skinny people wearing less clothing? If they show their bony shoulders or skinny legs, are you offended by their "flaunting hyperactivity"? Yikes, you can see where this problematic circle goes. Personally I would like to think there are more important things to judge people on than their clothing.
Back to KYK though, according to his own statements in interviews, not rumor or gossip, he thinks people who are not attractive or don't dress well are "pathetic". He is entitled to be superficial and fans are entitled to dislike him for it. It doesn't matter that he's famous and said these things. If I met a regular (non-celebrity) person who said the same thing I would also think they are just as unlikable and superficial.
It was a mostly cute movie, I am happy with the ending but I have trouble forgetting some of the old controversy…
I know right?! Glad I'm not the only one. I was almost finished with The Secret Life of My Secretary, was loving him so much in it, and then I read all the things he said in the past like "I hate anyone that looks pathetic... I like them to be pretty... I'll look at someone's physical appearance and say, 'I don't like that person. I don't think they'll match me.'... What I think is ugly is when women with thick thighs and short legs wear skinny jeans." Etc... ugh... I won't be able to watch his stuff for a while.
Maybe I heard too much about this drama being so good that I was disappointed when I finally started watching it. The story is interesting but tbh I just couldn't stand the main actor's (Lee Je Hoon) acting... which is a shame cause I think the older actors (especially Jo Jin Woong) are really good. I realized I was only watching to see the "past" scenes and decided to put it on hold or maybe just drop it completely...
If ratings were based just on the acting, directing and music I would give it a 10. So In Guk and Jung So Min were fantastic. I felt like So In Guk did exceptionally well and was perfect for this role. It was a nice departure from his more typical role and showed how diverse he can be. Their chemistry as a couple was off the hook good and some of the romantic scenes were omo omo omoooo the BEST. Unfortunately for me I just didn't like where the story went towards the last 1/2 or 1/3. In pieces it had a lot of memorable moments that I will remember as being absolutely amazing, but I can't say the same thing about it overall.
I just finished this drama and it was really amazing for me. Good music, shot really well, surprised and impressed by the actors especially Lee Jun Ho (sorry to say i had NO idea he was in 2PM until I fangirl looked him up cause of this drama), makes you feel all sorts of emotions... now that it's done... (T_T)... what to do....
Dropped dropped dropped, couldn't take it. What a horrid character. He tells her not to see her friends, dictates what she can and can't wear - basically says wearing a short sleeve dress is the same as going around naked and forces her to cover her shoulders after she refuses not once, twice, three times, four times, but FIVE ****ing TIMES. My god. If you think that's "romantic", give this drama a go. Otherwise, spare yourself. Can we get some HEALTHY and cute relationships please? Healthy relationships can still be fun to watch.
When I first saw him in Reply 1988 I was like meh not really my type. By the middle of the series I was like oooh.. I like him.... By the end I was like O_O GO RJY TEAM RJY GO RJY!! There is something about him that really pulls you in. Now I have to watch his other dramas/films!
Uhm... warning, rant ahead! Honestly ever since episode 1 I just couldn't understand how anyone could really like Yoo Jung as a boyfriend. Not even "like Yoo Jung more than In Ho", just like him romantically at all. He is so closed off, pretty unethical in a lot of ways, is super jealous and his personality is just not particularly interesting at all... I mean YJ and HS have spent the vast majority of their "relationship" fighting and/or awkwardly hanging out and/or NOT sharing things with each other or getting close to one another on a deeper level. Their relationship is so unhealthy that I seriously thought the writers were/are going to do a switch and have HS end up with In Ho. I don't think In Ho is perfect, he has his own personality problems and flaws as well, but in terms of how he interacts with HS, I totally approve based on the fact that HS and In Ho can actually be themselves around each other, be honest, have fun, not fight and actually support one another emotionally. I get that YJ maybe had a "difficult" life and can't really get close to people - yes, but basically all the main characters on the show had/have a difficult life - that doesn't mean YJ is ready for or going to be good in a romantic relationship... I just don't feel any chemistry between HS and JY unless they are literally kissing each other, in which case I get a very small spark...sad! :( Okay, rant done! On a random side note, the music for this show is so good. Why is it so good!? The feels (from the music that is) are real. :P
I hope this is as good as the original Taiwanese drama "In Time With You", because the Taiwanese one is one of my very favorites (and I'm not a particular fan of Taiwanese/Chinese dramas). People might think the Taiwanese one is slow at first but it gets a lot better and it's not full of crazy typical drama crap and their relationship is so nice and realistic that I love it. Looking forward to the Korean version but so far the comments don't look so good :(
