I just started watching and I’m only on episode 2, but I’m enjoying it so far—so I’m a bit surprised by all the negative comments. I’ve noticed a couple of things, though. First, viewers who’ve seen Addiction might have some anticipation, and this may not meet those expectations. I haven’t watched it, so to me this is a new story. Second, if you don’t understand Chinese and are relying on subtitles, you might miss some of the humor. I’ll see if my opinion changes after watching more episodes.
For me it's the opposite, I have read the novel for Revenged Love and ABO Desire, and it def helped with waiting…
No regrets reading at all — the novels were fantastic! ABO was new to me, and Revenged Love was a re-read but I forgot most of it. They really satisfied my craving to follow each episode. I’ll probably wait for the rest to be completed before continuing.
I found reading (re-reading) the original novel really kills my urge to watch the adaptation drama. Happening with Revenged Love, ABO Desire and The Promise of the Soul. 😅
could you please tell me in spoiler whether it is happy or sad ending because i am going to watch the series when…
Again, I have only watched the first episode and do not plan to continue until the series is completed airing so I have no idea what the characters are like in the drama.

I’m sure that’s how the drama wants, more depth in his character. The novel, honestly, was very flat. Nothing dramatic about it and it’s relatively short, 298 pages. Not much character development either. Besides understanding the whole story, I do not think the book is worth reading. Watching the drama will probably be more satisfying. I do not meant the book said Zefang was pure evil, but when I was reading it, I just didn’t expect he would contemplate such a thing on his grandpa and if I have to choose one villain in this book, that would be Zefang. That’s a very broad term of course, haha. Zefang is almost the polar opposite of Xia Cha.

Reading the book, I feel the grandson was just pure evil/brat. I feel no sympathy for him. 😂 He was planning to have both Hai Yuan and Ri Qing. I didn’t watch beyond the first episode though so I don’t know if the drama changed anything.

Grandpa was trapped in grandson’s body. Grandson was actually a bad soul, he was still out there and saw Grandpa having a good relationship with Zefang so he planned to kick Grandpa out in order to return to his body and continue to be with Zefang.
I skip watch, skipped a LOT, only focus on the second and third male leads until towards the end, so it seems ok. BUT, 5+5+9, the kid should be 19 and that kid in the final scene was no way 19!
FWIW, Promise of the Soul novel is short and rather “flat” imo, I think the drama will be better although I only watched two episodes and probably won’t watch again until it’s finished. ABO Desire novel on the other hand, is much more interesting. I don’t know if there’s an English translation or if you have already read the book, but if ABO is also on your watchlist, maybe worthwhile checking it out.
