i think the character is messed up this way „thanks” to his rommate - not gonna call it anything else, maybe…
Yeah!! It's terrifying how people can so blatantly overlook explicit abuse.

Sei is such a boring character omg....
Sei's behavior and his mannerisms are exactly like a victim of control and abuse. He seems so zoned out. Not even flinching when his broken toe gets pressed. And yet he is cognizant of everything. He knew Hagiwara wanted physical intimacy when he called. He smiles where Hagiwara is related, but only a little. He immediately understands that Kaori is cruel and selfish but doesn't say it to Hagiwara until their night in the hotel room. He comforts Hagiwara in the only way he knows how to. In return, he doesn't ask for affection or anything really. He says he doesn't want to go back to the museum because he is trying to protect himself from getting hurt, from evoking the feelings he wants to so desperately suppress. In the morning after, he was like a robot, resigned almost when he got dressed, paid money for the room, and was about to leave because he did not want to feel anything. Expected it to mean nothing to Hagiwara even though it was probably killing him when he thought the sex was just a secret, a one-time transaction. He only breaks and shows his emotions when Hagiwara kisses him and holds him tenderly. Sei's voice cracks, and he shows uncertainty, fear, care, and even smiles when Hagiwars says "Futtara Doshaburi". Sei acts, behaves, lives, and moves exactly like a deprived, controlled, manipulated, and abused person does.

And if that's boring to you, then I have to say that's kind of on you.

Agreed! And the amount of people trying to defend him is so crazy. I’ve been having these conversations since…
Exactly! Like Fujisawa's backstory doesn't matter. He might be tormented but it doesn't excuse his actions towards Sei. The same goes for Kaori, she is emotionally manipulative and a gaslighter. A deliberate lack of intimacy in a partnership is outright cruelty and abuse.
I am so shocked by the people saying they 'like' or 'connect' with Fujisawa, and everybody is 'allowed to have different opinions' or Hagiwara isn't a saint himself and is a 'red flag', and Fujisawa is actually a 'nice guy, unable to communicate' cause we don't know 'anything about him'.
- this is frightening, because this is just fictional and people are defending the abusers, imagine what happens in real life!

"Suddenly became a villain"?? What?? That man has been gaslighting, controlling, acting stand-offish, isolating,…
If Fujisawa is turned off and creeped out by Nakarai asking for sex, why does he still house him?? Get jealous of Nakarai having a relationship outside of him? Is he short of money, why does he need Nakarai in the house with him? Why does he not tell Nakarai of his friends asking about him? Why does he have his bed in the same room even after knowing how Nakarai feels about him?? Why does he physically hurt Nakarai? If Sei is harassing him and Fujisawa is bothered why does he enquire where goes off to at night, shouldn't he be happy instead? Or does Fujisawa actually delight that Sei wants him physically but he has the power to refuse?

And it's not about liking a character or disliking. It's about actually understanding. The signs of abuse have not been subtle in the show. It's explicit. Control has been multiple times shown to be Fujisawa's driving point in his relation to Sei.

And again, he has been villainous/abusive from the very beginning.

Hmmm isolating from others, now I understand it more but I also remember the same theme in My Personal Weatherman…
Thank you for this. I am taken aback by the support for abuse WIRIPs is explicitly showing, as something that is consensual, or "brought about" by the victims.

I am taken aback by how people can't seem to SEE the abuse when the series has been explicit in showing it to us, and even if they do see it, when it's highlighted and pointed out, they sweep it under the rug like it's nothing. And then blame the victims for it!!!

It's not because of actor is hot LMFAOOO it's because some people are finding Sei more right, and some find Hagiwara…
Absolutely agree to this.

It's not about opinions. I am pointing out the fact that it is NOT SUDDEN that he is abusive in episode 6. He has been abusive from the start, the show has SHOWN this to us.
And you can "LIKE" Fujisawa, and connect to his character, but that does not condone from the very fact that he is abusive. IT'S NOT ABOUT RED OR GREEN FLAG.
Abuse is wayyyy above a supposed red flag. And after KNOWING and SEEING EVIDENCE of the outright abuse he is doing to SEI, 'liking' him does become questionable, though.

And who said anything about me liking Hagiwara? I am empathetic to his story, his life, and his characterization. I am not taken in by his perceived weakness, that is shown to us too... He is a people pleaser, he doesn't confront his girlfriend, come-clean as you pointed out because he is terrified, afraid of revealing anything to his emotionally manipulative girlfriend, like any victim of gaslighting will be. But I agree he does need to have a very real confrontation with his girlfriend. But red flag behavior?? NO. That's exactly how a VICTIM in an abusive relationship acts!!!

I am going to add, having differing opinions is all fine and good unless it is about excusing abuse when you see it. And worst of all, defend it as "differing opinions".

Why is everybody saying Fujisawa is "suddenly" gonna become abusive in the episode 6 preview???? THAT IS NOT SUDDEN.

Literally, Fujisawa has been nothing but ABUSIVE from the beginning of his relationship/ partnership with Sei.
Fujisawa Kazuaki is and has been a total weirdo and psycho. He isolates Sei from his friends, never mentioning that they actually asked about him. Reacts weirdly about the broken nail, pressing it harder when he learns Sei didn't come to him about it, and he instead fixed it on his own. That is outright violence or physical harm against a domestic partner. Is going to get crazy in the next episode (ep 6) hearing about Hagiwara from Sei when they are not even dating because Fujisawa himself refuses to!! Even the circumstances in which Sei and Fujisawa got together seem so off. Sei was vulnerable, and Fujisawa used/using that vulnerability to keep Sei together with him. He literally dictates Sei's life down to what he drinks and wears and has been acting as his spokesperson since the accident. None of this is normal!!!!

But like, people find that before Fujisawa's outburst in episode 6, he ISN'T Abusive?? Is it because the actor is hot?? (I mean, he is!! Matsumoto Hiroki is objectively very handsome!) BUT COME ON!!!

Also, I should emphasize that this drama isn't glorifying cheating. IT IS LITERALLY NOT. None of our guys WANTED TO CHEAT, in the first place, until their breaking points, in their own abusive and hellish relationships.

Ok episode 5 started very awkward but last 1 minute of it damnn lol I can't wait for the next episode..Unpopular…
Sei (and Sei's actor) very well captures someone who is conditioned and unable to break from a abusive relation/ partnership. He is soo zoned out, not even caring when he actually physically gets hurt.

Unpopular opinion here : what if fuji actually love sei and he just can't communicate right with him ? I think…
Ship to sail after squeezing that broken, painful toenail???!!!!

(I admit to liking my share of toxic couples, but nah, I draw the line at deliberate cruelty. No way in hell Sei should remain with his weirdo/psychotic roommate.)

I think she is simply no longer sexually attracted to him. And if she ever truly was..
Yeah, it's tragic really. But realistically there are so many miserable, loveless couples who just stay together because it's easy and comfortable. And they even get married !

I don't think she is having an identity crisis. She simply wants Hagiwara still because he is easy to keep around. She herself is fully aware of her actions and finds it funny almost by knowingly being cruel. And yeah, she won't communicate even when he tries to initiate sexual intimacy because she doesn't have any sexual interest, or even I would say love left for him. I don't think it has anything to do with his gender.
