Ep 19: I am so confused…isn’t the fl Mei Mei or is her maid Mei Mei? Why is she saying to the marquis that he killed her maid, and he keeps replying « impossible »? Why doesn’t he explain himself or even ask her why she thinks he killed her? The whole exchange was bizarre …did I miss something??

I was under the impression that the fl is mei mei. She either invented that name or just her maid’s name.

Ep 18: why do I feel like Chengwen who just returned is about to take a concubine.

The truth of the fl’s birth was revealed fairly early in the novel in order to move the story along, even if the novel was moving at a slower pace they knew they needed to put an end to that sibling relationship. Why drag it in the drama? The fl still does not know based on preview 22 of 40 episodes. That leaves us with only 18 episodes for the truth to be revealed. I feel that a lot of the events in the novel - which are part of their relationship transition - will not take place. I hope they won’t do a 180 turn on us and turn the relationship around immediately when the truth is revealed. I can understand the ml’s feelings because he knows the truth but the fl truly sees him as a her third gege. Looking forward to seeing how they will make it work

it was more a thought then something that happened in the drama. The dad is awful to his son (ml)

Fairly early - she finds out at chapter 72 of 196. The duke also comes to take her in the same chapter. The romance don’t kickstart right away because she’s very young in the novel and a lot of things need to happen first. For example, the fl has to leave the Luo family, move in with her real family. The ml has to do a lot of scheming to marry her, and even then the romance does not start because she is still young and see him as her third brother for a good while thinking he married her to protect her. The drama is loosely following the novel so romance may kickstart earlier as the novel is moving at a different and slower pace.

I can never know in what period a cdrama takes place. I guess this one takes place during the Qing Dystany? I read that the status of concubines improved during the Qing dynasty and it became permissible to promote a concubine to wife. Wasn’t concubine Qiao trying to be promoted to wife?

Sometimes, there is no transition at all. The ml goes from not liking the fl to loving her instantly and after disliking or rejecting her upon learning an information, like she’s his childhood friend or online gaming friend.

I think she finds out early on, but I could be mistaken. The ml was 50 shades of red. I actually wanted her to escape him. Even when he lost his mind thinking she had died, it was more shocking then angsty due to his actions.
