I actually agree very much with everything you said. After watching quite a few of the older renditions (Hana Yori Dango, Meteor Garden, Boys Over Flower, etc.) a long time ago, I can definitely say that the bullying and rich cliche things have died down greatly. Those were the things I could not stand in the earlier renditions which makes me prefer this version more, but those original few will always be special to me as well.
There are more cons than pros for this series. From Li Wei and her annoying friend (who I wanted someone to slap so bad) to the annoying director (who seriously needed to yell at everything) and the odd story continuity. The amount of events/activities they constantly had made me wonder how they even had time to seriously study for their so called "exams". Xiaoxi's clingyness and lack of self-respect in the first few episodes was absolutely annoying, but i really liked it when she gained some self-respect and dignity. And the latter episodes where the clingy role reversal happened was a great addition. I also liked the fact that Jiang Chen geniunely loved her from early on despite never admitting it. Such a tsundere. Second-lead syndrome was real for me in this series.
On a side note, you're telling me the school doctor is younger than half the main cast in real life?!?!
I did not enjoy this season as much as the first one. Eun-jae was soooo annoying this season. Like they totally made her have a complete 180 personality change which was ridiculous. Seriously, even though Hwayoung had her scandal thing come back during the casting time, her character was one of the reasons why the first season even remotely worked. I mean sure, they made an excuse saying that her character's story wrapped up nicely, but that's bs since Eun-jae's did too until they went and created drama with her story. It was unnecessary since I totally hated her this season...and Ji woo could not really act compared to Park Hye Soo...they should've casted someone else...They should've just changed her into a new character.
I just finished re-watching this series and I still love it like I did the first time. Tsundere Kit is still my favorite character! Waiting for 2nd season.
And finally!!! The long-awaited kisses were given in the finale!! Waited so long for it to happen.
I honestly thought it wasn't going to happen either, but I kept saying that it would feel a teeny bit incomplete without at least one kiss. The car one gave me feels more than the bed one even though the bed one was the actual kiss scene.

Lol, I can officially say that I've watched all seven of these dramas! Thanks to this article I ended up watching Love O2O and I fell in love with it! Such a great drama!
I don't really know, but if it was meant to be a joke, then maybe in season 2 (if there is one) Joemy will still be alive unless a continuation happens with him not being alive, but again idk because the producers did toss some MIR reference into War of High School.
That ending though. I read one comment on Kissasian on the last episode and that comment said that they don't know if the conversation Ming and Song had at the very ending was meant to be a joke or not. Like Pound's mom targeted everyone who Pound was romantically involved with (Gale, Violin, Pimp) and Joemy was targeted because of an homage to their characters in Make It Right the Series, but I'm not sure. Not sure if this is true, but it would clear up the ending and make things more sensible.
