PSA: IQiqi may not carry this on its international platform. But both S1 and S2 is available on MyAsianTV, but in Vietnamese subs, so English audiences will need to figure out how to find and load the subs.
The script says so and I also find itโs a lame reason when Yuan Mo said that he likes A Shuโs because she…
If exotic Persian beauty was the ideal, then Hankiz Omar would have been perfect for the role. She's a Uyghur beauty, can pull off the playful vibe, has decent acting, and is still up-and-coming. Maybe Hankiz had other commitments, but Dilraba probably wouldn't have been available given her salary and (idol) stature.
It's a shame, because it could have been a breakout role for her.
The movie flopping may not be bad news for the TV series. Since this is now the undisputed best live-action adaptation, there should be more attention, resources, and audience goodwill toward this.
thank you for this explanation ๐ฑ it's rare for citizens of one country to be killing each other like this,…
Yes. The simplified answer is that to a historical Chinese person, China has always been the most valuable real estate. Hence, a lot more energy spent fighting over control of China.
So a lot more Han-on-Han violence and people killed.

Well historically, 'China' has a greater preference and record for killing 'own people' than foreigners, so this is nothing new ๐. Though there's good reason for this, but it's complicated.
Wan Qian also delivered a terrific performance as the young Empress in Secret of Three Kingdom. There are some issues with that show, and it's 54 episodes, but there were some pretty good acting performances and intriguing characters in that show.
Besides JoL2 and IAN, is there another series made in the past couple of years worth watching?
Depends on what your preferences are. I keep tabs on some of the better dramas in custom lists. Here's the 2023 list https://mydramalist.com/list/4q6QZMr1. I'm not big on romance though. And for 2022, Reset is nice and compact.
Yeah if you are not watching for nostalgia, the anything before the 2000s will seem really off. You should give the 2017 version a shot, it's better while still looking modern.
I think that was on his casual Weibo reply. But I the presser was not much better. I watched a clip and it was…
Yeah he didn't criticize the show in the presser, as that would be very unprofessional regardless of how bad the show is. But also absent was the typical enthusiasm or endorsement of the show/character in the presser.
So when combined with the Weibo comments, GWG's face, and the underwhelming quality of what's been shown so far, it would seem like he was not pleased with the filming process or show quality.
But social media accounts will tend to exaggerate things for clicks, as is usual.
Omg look at this. Zhou Yiwei openly told fans at a press conference that this is not a good drama and not to watch…
I think that was on his casual Weibo reply. But I the presser was not much better. I watched a clip and it was the most lukewarm perspective of his role. Gao Weiguang's expression says it all ๐ https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1Nw4m1e76Y/?share_source=copy_web.
Did the original novel have much story on younger East/West? Yiwei mentioned WKW's Ashes of Time version. But I thought that was pretty much all original story and somewhat contradicted the sinister character of OYF. While I appreciated WKW's imaginative twist, it would be so lazy for them to just re-adapt WKW.
With the island a metaphor for loneliness. I'm guessing it was a note from Li Si. And the ocean/sea also came up quite a bit as metaphor before.
But someone will pass, it's the sad, but also moving and inspirational as well.
It's a shame, because it could have been a breakout role for her.
