Thanks for clarifying this I also find the director's direction in the matter of the love scenes bizarre and frankly cringeworthy. If they were concerned about censorship then give it over to the censor and let them make the decision don't eff up the expectations of the viewing audience. That fade out scene should never be seen again in a cdrama its particularly annoying.

You are so right I am presently watching an earlier Novoland Tribes and Empires released 2017 would have been produced say 2015/2016. Now there are some very gutsy and epic scenes in it. Currently on YouTube - it is dubbed with Nth American voice over not so nice to hear. I prefer Mandarin with subs. However at this stage I am enjoying the drama even though its very long 75 episodes I am at episode 27.

Or they actually cut the scene, then had other actors continue the kiss scene with the fade out to cover. Who the heck does fade outs in this manner, its the first time that I have seen this and I must admit I do not like it. Usually they start a kiss then fade to the trees etc etc. I was loving this drama until I got trolled by the director. Yang Mi carried the love affair with her obsession / devotion. Then when the actuality of their affection was played out for me it turned to custard.

I find the censorship weird to say the least. Rape scenes OK, men attending brothels OK, multiple sex partners in harem situation ok. People slapping each other ok. Demented stupid women ok. However a kiss and not fish kiss not OK? As the censors are probably all men this may account for their skewed acceptance that women are second class citizens however in this instance I do not think its censorship, rather just a total lack of chemistry between the main leads. Or a personal choice between the actors themselves. Either way frankly as this is supposed to be a great love story it fails miserably as such. Even the conversation where they are cuddling and speaking. That scene was off putting, normally they should be face to face. Well I am peeved after 46 episodes the lack of passion / chemistry in the relationship between Haishi and FZ is just so obvious. Lousy kiss 1 second kiss with fade out pathetic kiss on the cheek by HS is that it! The scene with the two guys disrobing and getting ready for the Baixi ceremony had more chemistry! A lot of time was spent in useless conversation and flashbacks instead of showing HS and FZ as a normal loving couple. I would have preferred more time spent on the SL couple as their story was more interesting. The little time spent on the death of Tara and associated backstory in this arc is also disappointing. You would think that the director and screenwriter upon watching the rushes of the episodes could see where the audience was captured and work on that angle. I see below that there are comments re TMOPB I suspect many viewers are comparing the lack of chemistry between the leads in this drama versus the very real gutsy performance of Mark Chou when he had a kiss scene with Yang Mi. So disappointed - am I pathetic in this regard?

The story was not bad but the acting particularly the FL is so bad hysterical mostly dropped at episode 20. The subs appear to be machine generated and gobbly gook at times. Don't mind the ML.

The Baixi process dies with the current Emperor and the sting is that the future Emperor is both Baixi and Emperor at the same time, so would he then be immortal......

My take on the ending. FZ and Hai Shi have their consummation she falls pregnant Emperor announces the second pregnancy to protect FZ Hai Shi. FZ has been cured of the poisoning via the pearls. Tilan goes into labour and both she and the child die. Emperor though inconsolable makes Hai Shi Empress. War breaks out and both Emperor and FZ are killed. Hai Shi gives birth to a prince and You du makes a come back. The SML couple assist the Emperor in the war and live happily ever after he being the king of the tribe - she regains her sight due to Hai Shi and the magic of the pearls. So bittersweet ending for my guess.

What an emotive wedding night. Can you imagine how it must have played out for FZ after finally believing he could express his love, he realizes it will never happen for him. Poor HS thinking she just nodded off. Her look at FZ when the Emperor lead her away was straight from the heart. Very few actresses could have pulled off that expression like she did. That is why Yang Mi was chosen for the role, scenes like that show off her skill as an actress. I am actually rooting for the FZ character manipulative yes, totally loyal to the Emperor yes, guilt ridden by his mistakes yes totally protective of HS, I cannot help but feel sorry for the guy. More hell to follow for FZ and HS. Gosh this drama really kicks you in the gut.

Hi my understanding is that it is over the years Marcus Here announced this fact quite recently. I don't know if the count includes international views. Either way Eternal Love has been the most successful C-drama ever and my favourite mostly because of Mark Chou who was damn sexy in it.

Just comparing comments Eternal Love with 50B views has only 3700 comments whereas this drama with almost 6700 comments after only a very short time is certainly garnering lots of interest. Does the 2B count you mention include international views as well or only China?

Spot on I actually hope that FZ and Hai Shi have their night together before he is poisoned and she is then pregnant with FZ's child before she marries the Emperor. That's how I would have written the story. We will find out soon - I can't wait just love this drama.

Anyone else paying a VIP sub to IQIYI and getting into this drama then at episode 13 its locked and the only way to get episodes is to join a shitty "EVENT" which is in fact a grab to obtain contact info so as to promote IQIYI. I am very peeved at this and have contacted IQ to complain - reckon if anyone else is in the same boat you should make your complaint to IQ so they stop this shitty marketing exercise in its tracks. Otherwise they will continue this rotten practice.

Oh no just as FZ is coming good that rotten maid is going to go through with the poisoning, what rotten luck for Hai Shi and FZ. I can see why everything goes pear shaped now and the reason FZ asks the Emperor to take in Hai Shi. Cannot wait for tonight's episode. So loving this drama and the twists and turns, For me its far from slow rather clever and convoluted - I am also enjoying the conversations between the cast members that slowly reveal the plot to overthrow Di Xu and the parties involved in the coup.
