so if that was a ove confession, why would Mamoru behave this way? He first complained that Issei's liking him…
Well, when you confess, then you get argument and told that his feelings cause you pain, it's rather difficult. Issei thinks he is being noble and backing off. Issei should have said something when he saw the shrine in Mamoru's house. haha. I saw the trailer for the next episode, I hope that they talk about their feelings clearly.
so if that was a ove confession, why would Mamoru behave this way? He first complained that Issei's liking him…
Because they are both off context, and are not asking for clarification or explaining clearly. With a high context language, both have to be on the same page. Mamoru overthinks every situation, he knows that he is gay, he is assuming that Issei is straight. So if a straight guy says that, Mamoru is taking it as a classmate liking him has a friend, which is why he asked for all of those comparisons. When Issei just affirmed, instead of saying that he likes Mamoru differently, it caused Mamoru pain, thinking his love is unrequited. We viewers know what's going on, because we see the big picture.
I'm not fluent in Japanese by any means, but when Issei says, "dai suki da" or "suki da" it is usually synonymous for saying "I love you" in an indirect way. Use of the word "ai" would be too strong. Many, if not most Japanese speak indirectly, and since their language is high context, both parties are usually on the same page. Mamoru being the cat chasing his tail, isn't reading the context, he is assuming that he knows how Issei feels. So while it seemed like a silly scene to some viewers, Issei was actually making a love confession. To a native English speaker, nuance is one of the hardest parts of learning spoken Japanese.
Has Mean said he is straight? I don't get that vibe from him.
I understand where you're coming from, but I'm coming from the perspective that straight men have always pretended to be gay if the money is right. I have a problem with it in BL because the actors lead fans on by pretending to be gay or bicurious in order to keep mostly women attached and continue coming to events, and brands get to sell products. I'm not against fan service per se, because of the actors being able to make a living, but to hide that they are straight, and to pretend that they may be a real couple to lead women on is pretending to be gay for financial reasons. Since I'm a woman, and the target of said fan service, I feel it would be better if it were clear that they are in character at the events. At some of these fan meets, they are asked provocative questions, and are clearly uncomfortable with being asked.
I empathize with your point of view and the real struggles of being gay, and am not trying to disrespect. The use of hyperbolic language like "gay for pay" is to point out that we are using gay baiting and innuendo to attract mostly women to make purchases and attend functions. BL is mostly female driven commerce, and although I have been pleasantly surprised by number of gay males viewing these shows, the audience and purchasers are 98% female. Not only do they attend functions, but they buy the actors very expensive gifts, rent food trucks, and give them money. Just like with the straight gay porn actors, I can't really criticize straight BL actors for needing to make a living. The larger issue to me, is that the actors should not nave to hide their sexuality, and be able to be public about having a girlfriend. But when money is involved, they will continue gay baiting and innuendo.

To me, the fan service, and pretend couple thing the actors do is getting paid to pretend they are gay. I actually don't care about fan service, because the actors make money from this, and wages in Thailand are low. I think it is similar to what straight guys do in gay porn, without oral and anal sex. The actors can't come out and say they are straight, give vague answers about their sexuality, and they have to be lovey-dovey for money. If a stolen kiss or a drunken kiss in a drama is depicting SA glorification, then a lot of BL is gay for pay. That's just my opinion.
I saw their interviews because that was when there would only be one BL airing, and the actors would go to cast interviews. Since BL has blown up in the last 1-2 years, it's hard to keep up.
Has Mean said he is straight? I don't get that vibe from him.
Mean is straight. Watch Love by Chance and some interviews they did back then and you will see that he was one of the most uncomfortable gay for pay actors in Love by Chance. Fun fact: he is one of the first IVF babies born in Thailand.
This and 2 Moons 3 are my guilty pleasures. Nothing serious, even when they are trying to drug people, injure people, and point guns at people, I know that it will be okay. I have to say, I like the actor who plays Lip. Both female characters are typical of what you see in Asian dramas. The smartest person on the island, and the easily intimidated damsel, who really isn't evil.
Name, Em and the old lack of communication disease. Neither can empathize with the other. I'm all for supporting Name to overcome what he is going through, but it isn't right to push him "for his own good" without clinical supervision. Em cannot be angry or jealous if Name finds another good friend and no longer has time to be devoted to him when he comes home to visit. I hope that Name isn't going to be tricked by anyone.
This !!! Thank you. This series delivered in more ways than one... it touched a couple of real life issues and…
I'm happy for the viewers who have not experienced this type of loss, because some of them can sit on their little preaching stool and criticize Eiw. But if it happens to them, they will finally get it. I compare them to people who think they know all about parenting and tell parents what their kids wouldn't do, then when they become parents, they are the most overwhelmed parents we know, and have to admit they were ignorant. You only need to "sacrifice" the time of an episode to be empathetic, then they can go back to worrying about who is a real couple, and who their bias is. I know that I'm being rather harsh, but the complaints seem harsh too.
You said this much better and more to the point than I did yesterday. 😁When Fluke and Earth do a scene like…
I would love to see Earth be in different roles. My dream is that he is a drag mom, or someone like Khun in KinnPorsche. I want Earth that type of role to flaunt his talent in a flamboyant way for the haters.
I agree, you do have to go to a dark place to cry like that. Anyone who has lost a mother, or a significant parental figure prematurely can sympathize with how Earth conveyed the emotions through Si-Eiw. The scenes weren't just for the sake of crying, the character was deeply hurt.
I think this site has a lot of simps, or new to the genre. The simping over Cake/Santa was evident. Cake was like a typical young man (doesn't wake up, want to shower, is a jerk at times) and people were swooning. It's because he is conventionally handsome, and more importantly, masculine. Most of the complaints about Earth and his acting are often behaviors and mannerisms more attributed to women. I will defend Earth to the end, because I've been around more fem gay men than I can count, and I respect their strength. Yes, even some gay men get annoyed by Earth, but a lot of gay men in real life do more annoying things than cry and whine. People are people and we are all annoying at times. People who do not think they're annoying are the most annoying.
I don't understand MDL sometimes. We go from, "BLs should be more realistic. I'm sick of the lack of realism." Then when a character's mother dies, we complain, "Character cries too much. I'm sick of all the crying" Well, for some people, when you lose your mother, you cry all day for many days, and off and on for the rest of your life. I think that Earth represented those people very well. Not everyone gets over a death like it's a TikTok video. Do we want realism or not? Realism isn't always interesting or fun.
I will miss this show. I preferred the Rain and Phayu episodes, but liked the Sky and Pai arc as well. Maybe they will produce the Phakin story. I did not like the torture scenes and fast forwarded, but I fast forwarded through them in Kinn Porsche as well.
God was really really beautiful until he open his mouth in live and ruined all the enjoyment of the all drama.
Bas going to Godt's ordination, being welcomed, and helping through money showed me that Bas is a good person. Godt is older now, I hope he has learned. I haven't watched anything he has done since 2 Moons.
This is my guilty pleasure, mostly because I do not take it seriously. Hue is my favorite Pha, even more that Godt. This is mostly because of Godt's behavior in BTS, even though I find Godt to be the most conventionally handsome. Even though Lom gets on my last nerve at times, Tarntach the puppy makes me smile. I hope MV and Chiffon Cake have realized they screwed up by how they handled the season 1 cast. Godt could have been replaced, and they could have used the 5 remaining actors. Now, they had to retool the whole thing over their decision making.
