Crazy, I don’t think this guy is weak at all. He takes calculated steps in the background to make sure he doesn’t hurt anyone but still benefits those he cares about. Actually come to think of it, when has he ever done anything for himself? He’s presented as such a selfless hero. I guess one can say whenever he helps XY he’s doing something for himself… His character is so noble that the scene with him drunk at the casino and with him with the ice dagger at her neck was startling to me. Like wow what happened to Jing! With XL or CX, those guys would have murdered people already out of hatred.
Finally finished s1. I shouldn’t have started this drama. Now all there’s left for me is sadness and emptiness. Spoilers below if you haven’t finished s1.
Jing’s character probably has to be one of the saddest characters I’ve seen in a while. This guy is written as a kind genius who has never once done anything bad to anyone. His brother tortured him but he still doesn’t seek revenge. He’s rich and excellent at what he does, business, finance etc. He cares and respects his elders. He’s at the top of his clan but all he is and ever was, was a chess piece for people. No one seems to want to be around him for true friendship. (except 1 of course, no wonder why he didn’t want to go back to his old life, it’s awful) They all need his title and his support. Fenglong maybe wanted to be his brother when he was younger but now it’s also for his clan’s support. CX obvs is just using him. His own grandmother who he respects also just wants him to marry that nasty woman for the benefit of the clan.
He never asks for anything except the love of his life and nothing else. And he’s constantly being forced between rocks and hard spots - his grandma’s death, his fiancée’s “suicide”, now his “kid” like all this is so sad. Basically, what he knows right now is that he must be the clan leader and he was raped and being forced to marry and care for this child which I’m sure isn’t his since the maid had something to tell him, AND his brother seemed overly eager to see the child. Ugh. I hope he gets some wins in the next season. My heart aches for him. I like how the drama made him have white hairs. This guy is being tortured by those around him. Sad

Why not? He’s head of the household, and with grandmama gone, he doesn’t have to answer to anyone. I’m just so frustrated watching this. Esp after he and her almost died to be together and he made that promise that he would never abandon her but now he’s forced to abandon her AND himself pretty much.
I’m still on episode 33 trying to savor this drama. At the part where tushan grandma says she has no more than 6 months to live so Jing has to take over as head of family. Jing says no. But why?? if he takes over as head, then he’d have the power to cancel the engagement with Yiying, no?

I def shouldn’t have started this drama. it was a quiet evening when I thought I’d just watch one episode. it didn’t look that good anyway. and now I’m 32 episodes in obsessing over the next episodes. I only do two things now, watch and then rewatch. that’s it.
