We also have to think about the son's mental and psychological health and well-being. He was lied to by the people that he trusted -Dad and Grandma. Then there's the fact that he might feel that his mom abandoned him (grandma might try to gaslight and emotionally manipulate after the truth comes out).

She's a gaslighter. He's also "mommy's treasure" / mama's boy. But I think he's easily to manipulate because of the guilt of his brother dying? and mama uses emotional blackmail to gaslight and manipulate.
