It was fairly enjoyable!
I actually enjoyed both seasons. The cases were quite interesting and it wasn’t as repetitive as Ancient Detective. Similar to Imperial Coroner but not so much autopsy stuff. There was a bit fighting too which I enjoyed.I would actually have given this a 7.8 if there was a choice. Altho the main actors and actresses were kinda geeen but I thought they did a not bad job. And the plot helped. It wasn’t moving tooo slow either imo. I loved the interaction between ML2 and Wen Yue.
It’s not a spoiler per say but you might want to know how S1 and S2 is set up before you start. S1 had multiple cases spanning over an average of 2.5 episodes. S1 ended very abruptly and you really need to watch S2. S2 focused on just the last case in S1 but the eps were an average of 22 minutes each.
Things to watch out for:
Subs are horrendous. Also be warned that everybody is pretty new altho I did recognise one human (Zhou Fei’s dad from LOF). Andddddd the standard of beauty might not reach your standard of beauty. I liked two of the actresses tho. There also wasn't much hint of romance btw.
I would be interested to know your thoughts!

Most exciting one yet
8.4 from me. This fourth installment is the most exciting one yet. There wasn't a moment of boringness a.k.a. yapping. The acting in here was chef's kiss. Plot was good without too much fillers.I liked the cast. I liked the acting. I liked the character's development. I mean there were a teeny weeny bit of plot armour but which show doesn't have it, rights.
There's a bit of gory bits as well and the ending was adorbs. I've been watching from Z Storm and they do get better. Except for Louis' hair. His hair was the best in the first movie.
Watch watch watch!

Cheesy but so much goodness
Eason's song was what led me to this movie or I would never have found it. I loveddd this. Loved the actors and actresses - even those not as well known for their acting. Loved the OST - definitely nostalgic. See how many songs you are able to recognise!!There were funny moments which was very reminiscent of HK humour (slapstick kind) and the life "lessons" were cheesey but sometimes one just needs a reminder. I like the allegory of the ferrymen and life's struggles too - how both are trying to take you to shore, to your goal. I saw there were a lot of hate for it but I didn't think it was that bad.
Give it a go!

Wowsers
I gotta admit this movie blurb wasn't my usual cuppa but somebody recommended it and I was curious. I really enjoyed it in the end and was pretty invested in the characters. The director, Cheng Er has a unique flair to his directing and I think it really brings you into the story. AND I really really admire characters who can think. I generally don't rewatch dramas/movies hence my low rewatch value but there was also one scene which probably traumatised me. Haha. Love the plot twists in here too!Was this review helpful to you?
