The lives of three young adults as impacted by their parents is reduced to a 3 episode mini-series. It is chock full of lessons in life but the ending leaves a desire to see more and more. It is well done and the actors are well cast. Since it is only 3 hsurs of your it is worth seeing. The piano parts are absolutely priceless.

War and regrets

What a sentimental journey this drama experience. This two-part drama covering several timeframes is a complete story that was worth every viewing moment. The story fully develops the characters and the outcome of their lives is not left to speculation. There are many times the viewer will feel emotional ups and downs and the characters all present challenging - but uncompromising personality types that surround the words "survival" or "selfish". The depth of storytelling by the writer is a thesis on war and its consequences and collateral damage. Without enough background historical information, it was a little difficult initially following the war sequences -- who was fighting whom? In addition, why were they fighting? The first part had several airplane battles and the cinematography was excellent.

I have two complaints 1) is the typecasting of Americans (even if the events most likely were true). 2) the portrayal of two young wives of the pilots as "bar girls" after the end of their marriages. It made me more negatively judgmental of the wives and it actually took away for the sentimentality of the story.

The first part is easy to watch - really addictive. The second part bogs down a little but still watchable and delivers meat to the eventual story ending. Gave a good rating because it is a complete story and a true tribute to TAIWAN and the tenacity and bravery of their Air Force (often against the odds) during and after WWII.

An excellent drama all around. Total emotional investment in all of the characters to the end - just cried at the end then felt I had sipped a half of cup of water. Allhough I have given a high rating I feel cheated -- it is a story that deserved at least closure which was absent. In my heart I believe it was a drama that has a planned season 2 -- which could be successful if the same actors or actresses can continue in their roles. The cinematographyt was excellent and stage sets were perfect. I would rewatch because the story ws complex and attention to detail in the story telling is important to maintain a flow at some points. I usually rate dramas lower when there is an incomplete feeling at the end or a rushed ending. However, even with this feeling it was just a tremendous experience that I looked forward to each day. I will miss it and I will wait for the 2nd part if it is every produced- hopefully with the same quality.
