It has much wider distribution and was airing prime time, of course it is subject to stricter scrutiny. That's why it is ranked under TV dramas on v-linkage not web dramas. Many web-dramas do get picked up by local stations at the same time but unless they go nationwide, they are still considered web dramas. Regulation in China has gotten more strict in recent years, not less. Esp now during the regulatory crackdown on internet and media.

Yes I know. In the novel however, Shaozi was not only a mole, he stabbed the emperor and killed FJM in the process. The final arc has holes bc without someone like him, it is impossible to smuggle that many troops into the city. Tilan's maid and a eunuch simply don't have enough access to do it. But there are 7 cut episodes so some of the final arc is a bit loose. I am not unhappy they kept Shaozi good in the drama.

No, I think it was explained in both the novel and the drama one emperor only gets one baixi. That is why the assassins try go go after FJM first and it is also why when FJM is weak he hides as Fang Zhu behind the mask so that no one can easily kill him.

That's not true. If the baixi dies, the emperor has no more baixi. He only gets one in his lifetime. That is why they were plotting to kill Jianming first, bc that is the only way to kill the emperor.

This is where they got loose with the novel. Technically it is one baixi for each emperor only. Jianming should not have been able to do it again.

It may drop a few years later. It has happened for stuff like Royal Nirvana and Investiture of the Gods.

We can only hope Jianming has the good sense to burn the secret ritual text or if he doesn't, Haishi does it for him.
