As for the plot for me its quite simple - whoever has most to benefit is likely the mastermind. So I am watching the grandson prince because he is in line for the throne (and she may have killed his father). As for the FL brother, he is at most a cog in the wheel of any conspiracy. I hope his motive is more interesting than just romance bc this should not be a drama where anyone is motivated by romance.

Yes and of course but it is not like she inherited the throne nor was she of the royal bloodline (i.e. she was not a princess like Queen Elizabeth). She was made regent after her husband died but she seized the throne from her son(s) and stayed in power for a long time until her daughter in law poisoned her or something like that.
I think she was a capable empress but her cruelty and ruthlessness resulted in subsequent dynasties to enact stifling and restrictive policies against women that made it institutionally impossible for another female Chinese empress to come to power. Well before her ascent Tang society already gave women a lot of independence and freedom, indeed it is probably why she was able to achieve what she did. It is only after her time that women became progressively more restricted.

Yes but they have a smoking gun so to speak - she did kill I think two of her own sons, possibly a daughter but I don't remember about the husband I just know - she didn't hesitate to eat her young.

In the novel he dies but in doing so he finds release from being baixi and he does so knowing Haishi and Zhuoying are safe. In this he lives but he is not free. Even the emperor is free. It is an incredibly cruel and unjustified ending. They didn't need to make the baby so sick, that was just like overkill.

1. Tilan's child.
2. He is still alive but who knows how long.
3. No Zheliu is still blind.

It also wasn't earned. It all went down bc two people were so incredibly stupid it defies belief.

Unfortunately Jianming has taken on the baby prince's congenitally weak lungs. I am not confident of his longevity. That is why they had the conversation about how great it would have been if they met earlier.

It is worst possible outcome for the couples and the plot makes no sense. General Tang cannot possibly command enough forces to be a threat to Dazheng. How would a fief prince be able to bring so many men into the capital? Its patently ridiculous logic. Not to mention how easy it was to get Tilan out of the Inner Palace. I could go on if I wished to pick at it but this was just written by a child.
