Only one scene looked obviously cut to me so far but 4 out of 12 episodes shot is quite a bit to be just gore? Anyway hopefully that is the case, I like gore but not excessive gore, which I don't expect from c-drama anyway...

Hey are you watching this too? Did a bunch of scenes get cut? Some of scenes are not making sense and I read somewhere 4 episodes were cut. I stopped for now after seeing that.

NIF is a masterpiece. NIF2 is also excellent but not quite on par. You may need a character guide to start bc the first 2 episodes intros many characters at once. The one below is pretty good.

You mean Nirvana in Fire 1 and 2? They are both excellent dramas, but I would watch NIF first as NIF 2 is a sequel that skips one generation.

I have never seen a plump lady cast in any significant role in any Tang Dynasty period drama but there are a few scenes in the Longest Day of Changan that show a bunch of realistically plump Tang ladies.

No, but it does leave the ending it open to interpretation. You can see my SPOILER above why I don't think its a sad ending even without ep 37.

Yes totally agree with the emotional high so lets just get everyone to clog their email box maybe they will do it to just make us go away. Like spam them once a week until they get it.

I actually quite like the interpretation ending as well bc there was enough that YBY said along the way about his immortal cultivation and in his conversation with WKX for me to conclude it ended well. And the final closing scene at Four Seasons Manor which obviously moved and the way none of the kids were named after ZZS or WKS already strongly suggested to me they made it. That said, of course it is nice to have validation in the bonus episode and to see them together. I plan to re-watch this summer and I will check out the some of the subs as well.

I wonder if its just ignorance bc the first part of 37 looks like garbage dump of ending clips and credits. In any case I emailed Netflix and I think everyone should as well to try to get it uploaded.

Very true... how can one do it differently and still be a palace drama? I think its ok to recycle the tropes as long as they do it well. In that, this wasn't consistent and it was lazy in many places.

Heheheh tyvm. I really like LYT but I think in this drama her portrayal of Fu Rou was too similar to her Wenxi is Royal Nirvana. She is a quiet beauty for sure but I think she also lacks screen presence, which is why she makes no lasting impression in any of her roles. And she is not funny so she is arguably mis-cast here. It is supposed to be a dark story where they use a lot of humor to lighten the mood. Unfortunately all the funny characters are not part of the inner palace arcs so people feel like it turned into a different drama. I hoped this would be a breakout role for her but sadly its not.

I have half a mind to read the book to see what they intended with the rebellion arc but don't forget Royal Nirvana's rebellion got blood bathed by NRTA... Some similarities between that crown prince and this one... it made me think Li Zefeng may have made a better ML in that - less crying. I didn't recognise him from Winter Begonia, I had to go back and look for him and yes he was fantastic in that too! I will keep an eye out for him in the future but I am determined to try to avoid as many as these flag waving dramas as I can - its still not 2047 yet!
