One of my friends took 7 years to get divorced. They definitely had it better way back then...

Couldn't agree more and I would say that is especially true of historical dramas. They say it so much more deeply it actually makes I love you seem... pedestrian.

Well this was not that subtle and if they get as far as this or even a bit further, I think its pretty good already...

Please, Can someone who understands censorship explain this to me....since youtube is banned in china why do they…
There is no uncensored version, there is only one version and even if there were an "uncut" verstion, they absolutely cannot and will not release that outside of China. If they did that, it would find its way right back into China and then they will be in deep sh*t with the government and the censors. There is no upside to it for them bc they make negligible money if anything from international fans. It will also potentially lead to the actors getting banned by the regulators. Youku is a Chinese company, they have to abide by all rules and regulations of the Chinese government.

This Hu Po is the worse ingrate and she has a bad heart. She doesn't deserve to be happy.
Idk about that it must be in a coming episode. I haven't watched any of the trailers.

Master Jian did not betray Shiyi but she is a well meaning silly goose that keeps putting Shiyi, a married woman into tricky situations with a Ou Yanxing, a man that is obviously infatuated with her. I find her completely lacking in judgement and common sense but she is not evil.

The Ou family bribed her with the promise of a stipend and a child of her own after she helps take the Xu family down.

It could be but tbh I didn't make the Concubine Tong connection but what you point out makes sense and in that case yes, she would be Hu Po's long lost sister. There seems to be a lot of drunk seduction going on in this drama.
Concubine Qin's story is sadder and not directly connected to Yuan Niang. She was just a maid who took care of Hou Yeh when he was gravely injured. Because the MIL always liked her and wanted to protect her reputation, she decided to make her Hou Ye concubine as a "reward". But because Hou Yeh had not yet married an official wife, she didn't want Qin to get pregnant in case it caused problems between Qin and the official wife later on. So she secretly gave her contraceptive soup. Unfortunately Qin happened to be pregnant at the time, lost the child and became barren. And Lingyi never loved her. So she grew to resent him over time and hated the family. She would have preferred to marry a common man who loved her and gave her kids.

They forgive her but Hou Ye says she must leave because she betrayed and endangered their family. Shiyi tells her to go to her shifu.

Fouad don't take it badly, it's not mean, but this is my opinion: you watch a lot of BL (call it what you like)…
Wow. Speechless. Do you have no filter? Or do you not understand what hate speech is? No one, I mean no one shamed you for your beliefs or your preferences, they just disagreed with your interpretation of the drama. Instead of respecting other people's views, you dogmatically insisted on yours and where you crossed the line is when you started to disrespect gay people. Because you know they exist right? And they are human beings with feelings and rights too. They don't deserve this kind of hate speech from you. You think the WOH leads are friends and not lovers? Fine, that's your right. You crossed the line when you started going on about how you disapprove of BL/gay love - it is offensive and guess what, no one gives a rats ass whether you approve of it or not because you don't get to tell other people how to live their lives. These are views you best to keep to yourself just like many people who are reading your comments are probably keeping their views on your religious beliefs to themselves out of respect. The community here is kind and has largely tolerated this but that has just spurred you on and now your disrespect has crossed the line into hate speech. People who know me know I don't pick fights on this site. I am just here to talk about drama not politics, ideology, race, sexual preference or religion so I have ignored you throughout these many weeks. But you are really too much. You need to apologise, grow up and filter your comments. Like read and think about what you write first before hitting the post button. And apologise.

Why compartmentalize the drama? Just enjoy the story - it's a wonderful wuxia tale. The good guys win, the bad…
I meant the first bit about you are free to interpret it as it suits you. And I am jokingly telling you that hey if you and the censors see it the same way it is cool. But as is clear from all the responses below, we know you are a muslim and all due respect to your beliefs and your world view etc but at this point you are beating a dead horse on this topic and respect works both ways.

It is ok, you just go right ahead and see it that way. And if you are looking for a career change, try the Chinese censorship board. We really need more people that sees things your way to work there. :)

They dragged out the minutiae and will rush the ending. You pretty much know all the co-conspirators by ep. 36.…
I am also losing my patience with dramas lately - dropping them left and right. This one I am disappointed because in the beginning there was quite a lot of subtle humour that I really enjoyed. Now it is just one big ass cat fight -it is like watching Survivor - the Harem edition.

I agree completely re Hu Po. I am so angry at her because she knows Shiyi loves Hou Ye. I do feel sad for Qin and funnily of all the villains, she is the one whose motive I quite understand and almost empathise with.

Concubine Qin discovered the identity of Hu Po's long lost sister. She told Hu Po that Yuan Niang forced her to be Hou Yeh's concubine while she was pregnant and couldn't sleep with him. Hu Po's sister was unhappy and killed herself and Qin blamed Hou yè for her unhappiness. Hu Po thus fell in with her schemes to create disharmony between Shiyi and Hou Ye. Hu Po busted Dongqing for borrowing Hou Ye”s belt and set her up as being infatuated with Hou Ye and manipulated her into agreeing to be Hou Ye's next concubine. Shiyi was forced to choose either give up her business or sell Dongqing. She then urged Shiyi to divorce Hou Ye and leave with Ou Yanxing and live a free and happy life.
