Honestly I try (not always successfully) to refrain from commenting too much on appearances but I can't help myself in this case. At first I seriously thought they used CGI to beam Fan Cheng Cheng's head onto the kid's body.
Now this is how you make a drama - most of it is gonna be about their marriage and they act like proper grown ups... Not countless tortuous episodes of courtship and contrived misunderstandings and angst.

Surprisingly good, doesn't waste time on world building it just fills in the gaps along the way. Pace is good and am loving the set and visuals. Both leads are likeable but I am not sure about this harem thing.... its one of my least favourite tropes...

Well for all these dramas that kind of span a life time, the lead is going to be the wrong age at some point or another. As long as they don't linger too long on the teen years, I am ok with it. I think this one is fairly enjoyable so far although I agree she definitely doesn't look like a teen. I just don't single her out on that aspect because I have enjoyed many shows where the ML or FL is the "wrong age" at some point.
After a few episodes, I am actually enjoying the storyline. I have to admit this is a very interesting choice…
Zhou Yi Wei is the first convincing fierce general I have seen cast... not one of those too pretty dudes who obviously have never been in a war! Yeah!!!

Well pretty much all historical c-dramas seem to start at age 15 or 16 and they are casting increasingly older actors for lead roles - none of the leads were at all convincing as teenagers in Qin 4, The Wolf, LOF, Xiao Chuo, etc. and the endless number of ones with younger actors seem written for the adolescent market which is definitely not me. Doesn't leave many watch options if you rule out dramas just based on that. I also dropped LOF but not bc of ZLY. I just thought it was another And the Winner is Love with too much talking. Yap yap yap.
