Yes, the pairing is not believable at all and I feel no chemistry. Had high hopes but No Ni is utterly disappointing…
Its hard to watch a drama if you don't like one or both of the main leads. I have dropped many, many popular hits for that reason so fair enough. You should definitely spend time on dramas that are enjoyable to you.

Kai Yang killing that ugly troll made my day.
You are all too funny - that was an excellent kill scene he died so fast there was shock on his face and this somehow turns into a thread on all the eye candy?
Btw, I only have eyes for JC!!!

I just started the untamed and it’s getting good.
Hmmm... maybe - I heard good things so I watched a few episodes of when it first started airing but I just couldn't get into it - those boys are way too pretty for me. I may have to go back to Western TV for awhile after all my current airing things finish.

No it's fictional. However, the world's first geared mechanical clock was invented in Chang'an about 20 years…
Tyvm - I had almost convinced myself that it was possible albeit maybe to smaller scale given the production's reputation for authenticity...

I am probably at the same place you are and my guess is that the flashbacks are very strong hints towards unveiling…
LOL! But can't you see - that is totally in character!?!? The man has low survival instincts - he is on unpardonable death row you would think he would have fled by now! In all seriousness yes, there quite a few poorly timed digressions.

yes you are right. And also 宸sounds the same as 晨which means dawn, while汐sounds the same as 夕which means…
Heheh technically Chen is dawn and Xi is dusk so maybe not stabbing him that directly.

I just finish episode 53 and did not get the concept of Ling Xi tried to avoid seeing Jiu Chen. Why did she do…
Yeah I hear you and kind of agree but I think she is just being a girl and making him chase her a bit after chasing him so much in the beginning. I would rather see more of them together but I must admit I am enjoying watching him squirm a bit so as long as it plays out soon I am ok with it.

Its young (dawn) and old (dusk). Chinese very witty with the way we use our words. There are many layers of meaning. Also in this context I think the word destiny is more appropriate interpretation of "yuan" than fate so that part of the English title is good.

I have been watching this drama, but in the last two weeks, the conspiracy has become so convoluted, and at episode…
I am probably at the same place you are and my guess is that the flashbacks are very strong hints towards unveiling the rest of the conspiracy. So they are kind of annoying but you should probably pay attention them.

Ok, so here we are in 2019 August around the corner. Watched 100s of Cdramas after this and yes NIRVANA IN FIRE…
Yeah this one destroyed me. I have to try to forget i watched it so that I can enjoy all the other stuff. TMOPB was my first love but I think NIF is my true love. :)

It's unequivocally one of the best dramas of 2019. It sets the bar for fusion historical dramas, masterfully balancing…
Just my own view but I almost never set expectations relative to NIF - it would be too high of a bar. It is the drama I try to forget I watched that's how much it stole my heart. That said this one is so far really quite epic. And in truth these two shows value truly different things with amazing results in their own way so they shouldn't be compared. NIF is all about the story and the characters and it is really so terribly sad it lingers. This one is almost too historically accurate, too aesthetically beautiful and tries too hard to be all things on too many different levels and naturally only delivers stunningly on several very unique aspects. For me the most important plot and character development while not bad is definitely not its strongest point. For example, I am sure that most people will under ten episodes figure out who the big bad guy is although the how is stilll unknown but that is not what this story is all about. Yet I still can't really tell you what its really all about 30+ episodes in and I guess that is the question that I don't yet have an answer to... I suspect it is because the ordinary people are more important than the “heroes” in this show. And it is true I am lukewarm to the lead because of his devotion to a misguided wench. I care more about the people that died so far and that is both the dramas strength and weakness. That said still a no brainer in terms of whether to watch.

Fingers crossed but looks like this is going to be a strong finish, whatever happens at the end. I am almost positive its going to be a happy ending but my personal experience is that against our best intentions years later we always remember the sad stories.

Title Novoland: Eagle Flag Spoiler
In the 20s: What a terrible triangle - I feel so sorry for our three frineds... Reminds me a bit of King Arthur, Lancelot and Genevieve. Nobody is really right or wrong. I know Asule is the main lead but Yu Ran touchingly fell for Ji Ye from the get go not caring that he is a nobody or that Asule is the Crown Prince. Can't help but admire that a bit. She is too young and not wise enough to see that Asule is actually the better man but love is blind. And poor Ji Ye he loves his best friend's wife. Truly hope their friendship survives this mess.

I don't think we were meant to be attached to the characters, or at least not strongly. This is a different kind…
Thanks for that - I skipped to the character development part and would say its consistent with what I have come to realize. I was told I should do some "work" or reading on it before watching but I am deliberately trying to watch it without having any preconceived ideas. This specific aspect of the show strikes me as different. Not decided yet whether its good or bad different.
