Heheh... we go to the same anti-aging doctor. But I just do a wellness package I don't do all that high tech stuff he does.

Yes their character journeys are completely different but they are both innately loners. But I am also remarking on their physical appearance - the high check bones and the sharp side profile.

She’s very lovely. Honeslty, she’d make a great couple with the artifact crafting guy. P.S. On YOUKU, Mo daughter…
That would be +1. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Every time I look at Yang Yang's Han Li, for some reason I am vividly reminded of Andy Lau's iconic Yeung Gor. They have that same gorgeous but aloof, unattainable aura that on rare occasions shares a glimpse of radiant, youthful exuberance.

Title The Immortal Ascension Spoiler
I really like Ms Mo.
It is too bad she became so sad. I feel she genuinely, quietly loves Han Li. So far, though I don't exactly dislike her, I have seen little that is likeable about the over confident Nangong Wan.

Historical dramas are the most popular and lucrative for Chinese actors.

Yes and historical sets are very noisy bc multiple dramas shoot at Hengdian all the time so it’s hard to live record. Also regional dialects and difficulty with classical lines make it easier to dub over. But the more serious actors who have big screen aspirations always make it a point to dub themselves bc movies have to use original live recorded lines to qualify for awards.

Zhang Wanyi's acting and lines are very good. Pretty sure Wang Churan was dubbed by a voice actor - she is not at a level where she can do her own lines. Its fine, Yang Mi's entire career was made by her voice actors.

So far based on the Douban comments and reviews, this will easily score higher than Coroner's Diary which ended…
I don't always agree with Douban scores but I find it to be far more reliable and consistent than MDL. IMHO the CD Douban rating was on the low side but the criticisms were more than fair.

The better c-dramas are the ones that are based on good IPs and/or actually pay up for good screenwriters. Sadly the vast majority of them don't. I usually look for good IP adapted by directors and screenwriters I like. I don't care as much about who the actors are.

Yes, this is a far better representation of the detective genre. CD was more carried by the romance.

I watched the first 3 episodes and I like what I've seen so far. It's similar to Coroner's Diary, except here…
I also love that the FL can fight. She won't need to rush into dangerous missions and then wait around for the ML to make a grand entrance to save her.
I think there may be more than one Yesha.

Yes totally agree. Coroner's Diary was highly entertaining but the leads were too perfect cardboard characters. And the cases were highly illogical - I can't even call it a detective drama. It was almost completely carried by good acting.

The day before, I did have a peek at the first episode but it turned me off soon enough. The ML is just so arrogant,…
So far based on the Douban comments and reviews, this will easily score higher than Coroner's Diary which ended at a dismal 6.1. Doesn't mean it will get more views but so far, it doesn't have as many logic and plot bugs.

Chinese dramas would like to do long running series as well for the same reasons. Without regulation, they'd be making 100+ episode series over many seasons as well!šŸ˜… But for a variety of reasons, including censorship, they haven't succeeded other than on a limited basis.
I don't mind reading subs for a movie once in a blue moon but I read off the screen at work all day. Last thing I want to do when I get home is read off another screen.

For modern I still think Western dramas are the best. I don’t watch k-dramas bc I am too lazy to read subtitles.
