In real life, this is not how these movies end. Our FL is a parallel character but SHE gets the fairytale ending.

I think it may be possible Huaijin left kids though he only mentioned his wife. That would make what the Right Chancellor did at least make a tiny bit of sense. Also in those times, these clans were humongous so I am sure there are plenty of Meng heirs, just not from his line.
